I never like UT. Get that out of the way. Not because they wanted to compete with Alabama but thought they WERE Alabama.
Then we the Phatlock incident. Dude cuts a deal with the NCAA, with Roy Kramers assistance along with David Swank who was at OU when the Barry Switzer saga came out and was on the NCAA staff when the Means case came out. The penalties were levied and then Swank says this to make it look like it wasn't a charade
BIRMINGHAM | A former NCAA leader who chaired the committee that imposed stiff penalties on Alabama’s football program is now criticizing the way the sanctioning organization handled its investigation of the Crimson Tide.
David Swank, a former chairman of the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions, said in court documents that the panel should not have considered information from a confidential witness who was involved in revealing wrongdoing by the program.
Swank also said the committee misclassified some violations it said were committee by former Alabama booster Ray Keller and went to far in labeling Keller and two other boosters as “rogues" and “parasites" on the program, The Birmingham News reported Friday.
A judge previously ruled that Swank, a former vice president of the NCAA, could provide written testimony for Keller, a Jackson County businessman suing the NCAA for defamation. Keller claims the NCAA libeled him during the 2002 investigation that resulted in probation for the Tide.
According to documents filed by the defense, Swank is most critical of the NCAA for allowing the testimony of Tom Culpepper, an analyst who provided information linking boosters to a recruiting scandal that led to five years of probation and scholarship losses for Alabama.
Robert Rutherford, an attorney for the NCAA, denied Swank’s claims.
“We certainly don’t believe the rules of using a confidential witness were violated in this case -- especially since the University of Alabama knew the identity of the confidential witness and interviewed him," he said.
The Tennessee DA gets involved, Fulmer refuses to testify under oath IN ALABAMA which he had a summons for,
cuts a deal with the NCAA to keep his scholarship losses to like 2 and turns witness. The secret witness was not Culpepper as the NCAA reported, it was Phil and he didn't have the guts to even show up at media days in Hoover.
It's ok though, in the end even Vol fans turned on him but that program let him pull his Big Orange mafia bullshite and as Vito Corleone said "and that, I can never forgive".

Bama and LSU especially seem to fear us becoming elite again.
lol No one fears you becoming elite. It's the claims of being elite and "we're back!" so early on in the season when we all know the eventual outcome

I’ve lived in Tennessee for the last 18 years, eight in Knoxville. Can’t hate Tennessee. Despite some of the posters here they are good people up here. Hope we wipe the floor with them Saturday though.

Bama certainly does because if you study the history between us, as soon as we become good again that's when Bama starts sinking again and vice versa. Bama fans know this all too well.
And with Saban getting closer to retirement age and Bama noticebly looking more vulnerable as of late, you can bet your arse they are getting worried.
No one will ever be able to replicate what Saban has done there and they know it. Their current dynasty has gone on way too long.
Just a matter of time before the inevitable collapse back down to warth happens and Tennessee being good will only make things worse for them.

If “done a number on” means “annoy the hell out of” then I agree with you.

To be honest other than this week I don’t really think about Tennessee. I can care less about Tennessee,Tennessee as far as I am concerned an afterthought and not important enough to worry about and most definitely hate.

As long as Phillip Phulmer is alive I will hate the VOLS and have my Vodo Princess stick pins in his doll on the second Saturday of October.
