Bama is the benchmark, like it or not, and Bert's had them beat until the gritty end the last 2 years.
LOL, what?
In 2014 Arkansas was winning 13-7 until 12.5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. They never led again.
In 2015 Arkansas was winning 7-3 until 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Arkansas then went down 10 with 13 minutes left, 13 with 10 minutes left and 20 with 3 minutes left.
Hardly "had them beat until the end" there. 2014 was a close game. 2015 was close for 3 quarters. In neither game did Arkansas ever hold a lead in the last 10 minutes of the game.

pretty amazing we've done as hmmm mediocre as we have- we're not like most sec states where mega recruits are falling from the sky left and right.

Yea, Arkansas definitely has to think outside the box to win/bring in NFL talent. Done pretty well in that regard over the years.

What sucks is I know there is more talent here in the delta and central Little Rock. They just don't play. It's especially a problem in LR.

They either prefer playing basketball, wouldn't be able to qualify, or just do not live in the right town that has a coach that can talk them into playing.

I know part of the reason, at least for Little Rock, is a lack of support for football programs since the entire school district is strapped for crash.
I'm a freshman at Fayetteville this year and played for Central. The weight room is so bad. It was a small, dingy room underneath the stadium with old equipment. I'm sure it's even worse at schools like J.A. Fair and Hall. North Little Rock's weight room is light years ahead of anything in the LR public schools. I don't think it's surprising that they're usually a far better team. There's support for the program and the students want to play.

Or they live in a town where the team has so little support from the school and community it never occurs to them to try out for football. The delta region in particular just doesn't have the money to really develop football players.
There is a ton of talented athletes in that area who never get a chance to show what they can do.

John Walker took all the cash, milking the legal system to keep the desegregation lawsuit going for decades.
