Last year there were 4 scholarship RB's. They all return and we added 4 more.

I hope I am wrong, but none of the 4 seem to be any better than the 4 we had. I REALLY hope I am wrong about Trey Holly.

Just out of curiosity, what do you consider to be a very long time? I don't know much about the make up of LSU's OL.

Both tackles will be Soph's and are studs. And entire OL is back from last season with a few really good Frosh.

Those numbers were his first passing year numbers at LSU which were really good plus his rushing. I think he will be very good this year

But it was an incredible effort by him after a pretty average first 3 quarters

Average? The guy was Jordan Jefferson at his worst bad in until the last 2 drives

He put up those numbers learning a new system, with a team that was pretty much completely revamped starting with only 39 players, with an oline that changed each week until like the 7th week of the season with two true freshman OT's before they found the right combination which now coming into this year will be one of the best oline's in the country...those number will greatly improve this season as well as the team overall will be greatly improved...

No he wasn’t. He wasn’t great but he wasn’t awful. He ran well also.

Hell, had Boutte caught the 2 TDs that hit him in the hands, JD would not have need to lead 2 TD drives to end the game.

ETA: JD completed over 70% of his passes that game. Despite the drops

He was absolutely terrible those first 3 quarters and no misleading stats will change that. Go back and watch the game. He was maybe the worst QB on a big time field I had seen since JJ on 1/9

With our last 2 classes, we've gotta be damn close. No lower than 6th, certainly.

I think you're a little hard on those guys.

Logan Diggs, Armoni Goodwin, Josh Williams, John Emery, Noah Cain - those guys are all competent. If we can't get decent to good performance out of that group every week, there's something wrong, and probably not with them.

As a group, including Diggs at Notre Dame, they averaged over 5 yards per carry and scored 31 touchdowns. We'll be fine at running back. Not great, but good. Maybe even good enough.

Personally, after the way LSUs backup QB performed in the second half of the SECCG, I find myself wondering why Daniels is the starter.

Because that backup was lucky not to have 4 INTs

I like Daniels, and feel like we can win a lot with him. I think he has just about every tool you want, and if he becomes more decisive he will be special.

This isnt a troll
That's good, because one rule of failed trolling:
don't pick on or mock a player that maybe half the fanbase wants replaced.
quote:

For me its more of an eye test and I just don't think he has the ability to beat an elite team in a championship game. And no Alabama last year wasn't an elite team
Now, this I have an issue with.

They were 2 plays away from being 12-0. They won the Sugar by 25. They had 10 players drafted, 2 in the top 3, 3 in the top 12. 8 in the top 3 rds (where you can reasonably expect a guy to start in a year or 2). They had the returning Heisman winner (who went #1), and the returning Defensive POY (who went #3, first defensive player taken).
This was not a bad team, or an average one (other than to say, it was 'average' for a Saban-led Alabama team).

2nd year in the system, 2nd year for the coach as well, a year older, has good players around him, doesn't make a ton of mistakes, won the west last year. I mean it's don't necessarily expect it to happen but it's not a crazy projection.

If LSU is reliant on great QB at to be successful, I dont think they will get the outcome we all hope for.

I'm an LSU fan, and I think if they win a championship it will be because it's a good team. But I dont see Jayden carrying the team all season.

He isnt terrible, but he isnt great.

I think he will be better at moving in pocket while keeping feet ready to throw properly. He got better at this last season.

He can’t take as long to get comfortable. The one read and run had some nice runs, but there were many missed open receivers. His running is a big weapon, but it really should also be opening up passing game more than it did when he was quick to run. Runs also slowed development of other running game and developing trust with WRs. He improved on this as well, and I think it should carry over.

He also needs a little more with throws with some improved aspect of throwing motion or strength to make defenses defend more areas of field.

As season progressed injuries (including wear & tear of season) and cold & windy weather affected his passing more than someone with a stronger arm in similar injuries and situations. These injuries also affected his running as well making him average if not below average at times.

JD can be a good enough QB, but like you said he can’t carry team for a season. Developing additional weapons on offense, special team improvement, and defense not getting gashed and giving up big plays are needed to compete consistently at a championship level.

I'm not worried about Daniels. The secondary is a big question mark, and we still don't have a kicker.

A lot of transfers at corner, but they are excellent. Safety depth is a concern.
