The SEC teams in the top 10 this year don't appear as talented as years past. Take 2011's LSU, Alabama, and Arkansas against this year's Auburn, Alabama and Mizzou. 2011 wins in a landslide IMO.

So because other, "lesser" SEC teams like Vanderbilt, Missouri, ole miss, Auburn, south Carolina, etc. beat those teams you listed, the conference was "down"?

GA was down. FL is what it is.If the SEC goes 7-3 or better than everyone (esp on the rant) is going to have to accept that the league if anything is stronger than ever, it just looks a little different. With parity comes losses.
On the other hand if mizzou loses to Okie State I'm going to blame us too.

Pretty much where some of the "deep thinkers" on this subject base their opinions.

Just sit back and laugh at them.

How can we ever recover? Apparently LSU's Decline is actually contagious. Time to go down with da 'ship.

Yes but now we can say even the bottom feeders of the SEC can beat the top team in any conference.

If my team loses a couple then the SEC is down, and CFB is down because my team is just that damn important.

A&M and Bama didn't underachieve.

LSU layed an egg vs. Ole Miss, but was basically what everyone thought they'd be.

UGA and UF are the only reason people perceive the SEC as down in 2013.

well sorta, but there were some out of conference games that did real damage to the conference reputation along the way too:

FSU destroys Florida
Oregon destroys Tenn
Ok State destroys MSU

Miami and Ga Southern beat Florida
Rutgers beats Arkansas

On the bright side Ole Miss beat up Texas, USC beat Clemson, and A&M aced its bye week, but mostly the out of conference results were more bad than good.

The top of the SEC was pretty good again but the lower half to middle was down in a relative sense.

It was actually the first couple weeks of the year - when Miss St. got waxed by Ok. St., Georgia lost to Clemson and Tennessee got annihilated by Oregon. Whether those are good measuring sticks is a fair question, but that presumption was in place long before Auburn did anything of note.

If they have all the food, I might change allegiances. I do love the food. How good are the Eats? Sounds like a great mom-and-pop diner.

Wishful thinking but yea the traditional powers in the East definitely down and out. The West might have actually been stronger this season than last with the resurgence of Auburn.

One of three SEC teams was all but guaranteed to go the BCS championship game going into the last week of the regular season. Only three, so down year.

Let's be honest - if that's how far away it was, it was never even fricking close.

If that 80 yard field goal Nick tried was good, all you would hear would be about how amazing it was that bama was able to go through the meat grinder that is the best league in America unscathed.

We all know what happened with that kick, and at that moment, the SEC became "down this year".

Not to interrupt your bammer hatin', but they were saying the SEC was down this year before the IB.
