See my previous post on overvaluing "history" and intangibles.

When you look at real life resources, things that actually can be measured, LSU and Alabama are very similar. That's an indisputable fact and yes Saban today would win just as much at LSU as he has at bama.

He wasn't exactly the biggest name in coaching when he got to Alabama either. A lot of Bama fans wanted us to hire Rich Rod instead of Saban at the time.

I think you are new here, and I believe I've seen a few of your posts.

You don't really know what you are talking about. I'll just leave it at that.

Maybe, but LSU has recruiting advantages Bama doesn't have being the only legitimate program in the state with the highest per capita amount of NFL players.

Not in 2000, they didn't.

"The fence was down" is the best way I can put it. Schools like Miami and Florida State were poaching players from Louisiana left and right. And LSU was coming off the worse decade in its history, so Saban couldn't just come in and immediately turn that recruiting trend around.

Plus, Saban did a great job building up LSU's ENTIRE athletic department while here, not just the football program. He just did more for the university than people really know.

LSU didn't reap the benefits of all Saban did on the recruiting trail until 2002 or 2003, which is why you saw the abundance of talent here from 2005-2007.

To be fair, he is directly responsible for the 2007 title

then, to be fair cocksucker, Shula is responsible for Saban's first NC at Bama. both were in year 3

Take one of the best college coaches ever, add him to the most cheating University ever. What do you get? "Alabama" You win four national titles in six years

Maybe but y'all were still the only option in a very talented state. Few had it better. And obviously y'all capitalized somewhat because it wasn't just Saban's players in 2003. I was a Tulane fan and they couldn't compare even back then.

Alabama has won more football NC's in the last 7 years than LSU has in it's entire history.

No football coach could win more at LSU than they could at Alabama.

i remember the Bama coaching search on here until Saban

It was looking bleak for them, they even had a "raise your hand if you turned down the Alabama coaching job" thread

He also was not the biggest name in coaching, the poster is right, he did not have the clout he has now...he was however bigger than the names rumored to have been sought out for the job

35 years combined of Bear and Saban. Congrats on that but don't act like its anything other than very good fortune. Bama is no better than any other of the top 10-12 best programs without that. Where is Bama today if Drew Brees signs with the Dolphins? They are a Notre Dame of the south has been program that's where.

Cite what OBJECTIVE and MEASUREABLE critia outside of better coaching (right place, right time) that bama has on LSU. You can't do it BECAUSE THERE ARENT ANY! Talent in the area, facilities, fan support, and money are all roughly the same.

That is a ridiculous premise. Alabama was winning Rose Bowls in the 20s when the Bear was a teenager.

Quite frankly Bama is like Notre Dame or Michigan- an institution that is part of the foundation of the sport that is college football.
