It was Lane who sent his family on a
well publicized tour of two SEC schools
in the middle of a playoff push. My guess is
is he hoped Ole Miss would fire him and he would collect a negotiated buyout as he
left for LSU. At that point Ole Miss had no choice.

Ot that it really matters that much in the grand scheme of the portal world but you would be crazy to let a direct competitor be in your players ear for an extra 6 weeks.

It was like nobody from ole miss thought beyond “aw hell no” so they threw out their asset thereby letting lsu get to work closing the gap on the advantage ole miss could have exploited further. Playing keep away was the move.

there was a team meeting with the AD, multiple players in that meeting have said they players didn't want him to coach.

Nick Saban sent Ms Terri to Baton Rouge before he took the LSU job.
