Doesn't matter if a single person tunes in? Where does the money come from? It comes from advertising. Ask the companies who are paying for the advertising if it matters how many people are viewing.
Sigh....ESPN owns the network. The SEC is paid for the right to broadcast their content in the form of carriage fees. These fees are not variable. There is a contract. So no, it doesn't matter if a single person tunes in...for the length of this contract the SEC will be paid based on number of subscribers, not people watching.
It would only matter if ESPN were to drop the channel of off their sports tier which obviously isn't going to happen.
