The worst thing about what Updyke did is gave these m.f's legitimate ammo to feed their victim mentality from now until the end of time. If Updyke didn't exist, they would have to invent him.

No one plays the put upon victim more than the Auburn man.

It's like someone banned all the couches in West Virginia

They can't do their trashy redneck embarrassing tradition anymore? Boo hoo.

I don't see how y'all don't realize he ultimately did them a service. Now instead of it being about making fun of Auburn for the crappiest most low rent retarded redneck tradition in the SEC, it's all about mean old Harvster and giving them sympathy.

Because they thought any decent aggy school would have been able to save the trees. I'll bet Mississippi State or Texas A&M would have those trees flourishing today.

Because Harvey is the quintessential socialist Berntard. He figured if Alabama couldn't have a historic Toomer's Corner tree, Auburn shouldn't have one either!

Considering the reaction, I'm sad I didn't think of it first.

I wouldn't have been dumb enough to get caught either.

Poisoning the trees was just mean.

But telling people you did it , was just moronic!
I'll never understand why he didn't keep his mouth shut.

Because Bama fans are degenerates with nothing else to live for.

A wholly narrow view of an entire fan base. Perhaps you've only met a few Alabama fan, or maybe you're basing your opinion about an entire fan base purely on your interaction with some on a message board. Most Bama fans I know have family, friends, careers, and many other things that make up part of their well rounded lives. Of course, any time you're dealing with a fan base of any measurable size (all SEC teams save Vandy apply), you're going to have SOME degenerates. No fan base is ALL degenerates.

All the public condemnation of him from the rest of the fanbase was bullshite. 95% of them got a kick out of it and weren't upset by his actions in the least. They have a good laugh about it when not in mixed company.

How would you know what happens when not in mixed company since the only time you would be present, the company is mixed?

I was angered by what that moron did and the overwhelming majority of Bama people I associate with were as well. Harvey Updyke not only put a bad light on the University, but he also did something that had a negative impact on friends and family of a lot of Bama people. A lot of my HS friends went to AU. I spent about every other weekend in Auburn during college and, unless it was the AU/Bama game, always had a great time.

Other than football, AU and Bama people get along great. You have "mixed marriages", "blended families", etc that are proof this is the case.

It's easy to paint with this broad brush when dealing with fan bases, but it's also mentally lazy.

Maybe your tears will help water the new trees, when they're planted.

The worst thing Saban did is brought yall m.f's out of the gutter and made yall think your lives are worth something and everyone else has to live with yalls breakdowns everytime u lose. God forbid what it will be like when Saban retires and yall go back to 7 win seasons. Yall will all be out poisoning each other's grass and shooting each other.

You do realize that Bama historically owned the SEC before Saban arrived, right? That we had 4 other coaches win National Championships prior to Saban, right? That "7 win seasons" were an outlier, not the norm, brought about by NCAA sanctions stemming from violations in 2000, right? That even Mike Shula managed to win 10 games in a year, and Dennis Franchione won the SEC West in 2002 with 10 wins, right? That even Mike DuBose won an SEC Championship in 1999, right?

Of course you didn't.

News flash. Bama has been the most dominant program in the SEC since the 1920s. We've won at least one SEC Championship in every decade since its inception. That shite isn't going to change just because Saban decides to retire.

I'm guessing you missed that Alabama has been winning titles for almost 100 years now.

He'll son I've been around for 11 of them. It's wishful thinking that Bama will be down long even when we do have down periods.

It's just not who we are.

So he did our University a favor? That is what you are saying?

When one particular University has certain traditions, it is up to them, and only them, to decide how those traditions are maintained.

I don't like UGA or Ole Miss, but I RESPECT both of those Universities and what they stand for both Academically and Athletically.

Should I go to Athens and throw Uga off of a bridge because they have owned us in football for the last 10 years?

Should I go to Ole Miss with a flame-thrower and decimate their beautiful "Grove".

Nope. I'm fine with letting those traditions live on, knowing that I may not always fully appreciate those traditions, because I am not a fan of either of those particular Universities, but I can at least maintain a level of respect and refrain in letting them celebrate however THEY chose.

It is not for me to decide.

LOL. Trees aren't humans, they don't die at the age of 95. They were dying because you guys threw toilet paper on them and then hosed them down with fire department grade hoses. Oak trees generally live between 200-500 years. Yours were on their last breath after 80 because you were slowly murdering them.

You were killing them yourselves. Harvey was a redneck arse and has been punished accordingly, but if you guys truly cared about the trees surviving you would have stopped throwing paper on them when your scientists said you needed to.

You think it'll be anything like this?

Or this?

Hmmm, seems like there is one major fair weather fan base in this state.

My gosh, your life must be so, so, so sad. I wish I could watch it unfold everyday.
