Why Arkansas always have so many players go in the portal?

It always seems to be some of their best players and leaders. Does not make sense since Pittman seems to be good with culture and a good guy to play for.

Pittman seems like a great guy, but I think he's in a bit over his head.

I have said this since he got hired.

He was the perfect dude to take all the talent Chad Morris recruited (That was left) and actually do something with it.

Beyond that he is not a capable P5 head coach.

Most are non-contributors, just like last year. Only a couple were actual losses. Catalon leaving is kind of weird, I guess, but there’s about a 0% chance he stays healthy next season wherever he plays.

Not really. Arky is losing more production than any other team in the league.

Nah, he'll go somewhere else, be injury free, and have an all-American season.

Arkansas lost more production to the draft than the Portal.

I think Sam is going to recruit less at the high school level and use the portal to get more seasoned players from other schools.

Because the portal makes the rich richer, and Arkansas isn't rich. All the portal talk annoys me. Every radio show, every sports article. "We can fix this position in the portal!" It's like the NFL people talking about a shitty draft and saying "it's ok we can fix this in free agency". How often does that actually happen? It does, but it isn't the norm. If you are depending on free agency to get your team to the next level, you are kidding yourself. Same with the portal in CFB. Are there some exceptions? Of course. Rattler to USC could be an exception. The exceptions are numerous. But most portal transfers are busts.

ETA- it's like getting low in your checking account and saying "it's ok, we can get some scratch offs at the Chevron and turn this around really quick".

He went 9-4 last year with no head coaching experience that suffered little when it came to injuries and won some close games.

This year was the opposite and the season was a disappointment. However I believed and still believe that Sam is learning on the job through trial and error.

He made good coaching replacements in areas of the team that were needed the most, has his best according to the recruiting rankings class and will hit the portal hard soon.

Pittman wasn't hired to win a championship. They won't say that out loud, but that's the reality. Pittman was hired to keep Arkansas out of the gutter it had been living in for so long. Same with Beamer at USC. Maybe they frick around and have a pop season with a lighting-in-a-bottle player and achieve greatness, but in order to do that, you need to be a solid 8-9 win team every year so that you have some semblance of competitiveness if and when a pop-year comes along. Pitt is there to keep Arky interesting, so fans can believe they have a chance in every single game. Tickets, viewers, merchandise, alumni donations. I think Arky did a good job hiring Fat Sam for that purpose. It also really helps that he's a really likeable guy. This post sounds like I'm talking shite, but I mean everything I typed as a compliment to Arky. Arky is my #2 team. My momma's whole side of the family are razorbacks, really good people. I wish yall would let me post on your board.

Wut?

Won 9 last year, definitely should have won 9 this year with a few plays going the other way.

Also think he is pretty honest with players he doesn’t think will cut it.

He does well with blue-collar guys who want to work. Players in the portal from smaller schools that are hungry to prove themselves vs SEC.

With the staff turnover, defections were expected.

Our best WR for next year, IMO, came from the portal this off-season. Our best pass rusher too
