are 274 too many

but since you're a gump (and for some weird reason, proud of it), it's very simple:

LSU recruiter asks the recruit: "You want to play on Sunday?" and shows him the list of current NFL players who went to LSU. That often sells itself.

Some of their former players do pretty well and some not so well in the league, but they - more than any fan base out there - take more pride in NFL success to a weird degree.

If you were thinking logically, LSU fan, you would be upset that all of this talent is going to waste while on campus.

I do this with anyone who went to Bama. I also do this with anyone from Mobile. I don't understand why you think this is odd

You live in Tennessee and if it wasn't for Mobile, Biloxi, and Gulfport supporting the Saints, they would have been in San Antonio years ago. You should be glad that the Bama fans in Mobile have supported the Saints. They helped keep them viable for years.

It's hard not to root for our guys, especially when one just donated a cool Million back to the school that got him to the league in the first place..

I'm sorry that your 'big money donors' has the poors.

Kudos to PP, though.

Still was not an INT.

shite, I pay property taxes in LA brochacho.

Honestly, I love the Bama resident Saints fans. They help the Saints, of course. But they're not real Saints fans.

It's amazing how many gumps are are obsessed with LSU fans.

The answer, we just have more fun in life period and want to see our school represented well. Its called pride in LSU, not LSU football.

they want Mardi Gras and the Saints to be theirs so badly. I can't blame 'em though considering outside of Alabama football the only thing they have to look forward to each year is the state fair.

Yep..Patrick Peterson, OBJ, Jarvis Landry, Jeremy Hill, Honey Badger, Eric Reid and many, many more did nothing at LSU.

Yes, and to the OP's point: How come all these former LSU players, who have so much success in the NFL, can't ever seem to sustain success while in college? Sure, they may achieve some awards, but the team usually falls flat on its face on national tv.
what?

And its amazing how many LSU fans are so obsessed with Saban and Alabama. Don't try and convince everyone that its any other way because everyone knows of the strong disdain you guys have had for Alabama and Saban since his arrival in '07. And if you guys have so much more fun in life than everyone, why do you spend countless hours complaining, bitching, and whining about the unfair advantage Alabama has over you guys and constantly try to create some conspiracy to put Alabama down? That doesn't seem like a fun life to me.

LSU hasn't won a major bowl game since 2007, and they've lost 4 in a row to Alabama. There isn't much to "brag" about from their perspective, so they cling to anything they can. Most fans pull for their guys in the league. LSU fans don't love their players and hope for their success more than fans of any other school, it just seems that way because they're very vocal about it, again because it's the only thing they can really point to and brag about right now. I welcome the onslaught of downvotes, but everyone reading this knows it to be true whether they're willing to admit it or not. If LSU were dominating college football, they'd stil support their former players, but you wouldn't see as much chest thumping over those guys success in the NFL. It's starting to become a tricky argument for them, because now Alabama has more superstars in the league than they do. They'll need to start winning some ball games against Bama or they won't have a talking point at all, and will just have to bend over and accept defeat Lacy, Jones, Hightower, Dareus, Mosley are bonafide NFL studs. LSU has Peterson, Williams, Whitworth, OBJ and a lot of role players.

Fantastic answer, friend!

Have an up vote.

You don't end with "rtr". You end with "Roll Damn Tide".

Does said recruit not also ask "will I win a championship - or anything of note - while in college?"
