Other than two small pockets in the 80's and 90's Texas has dominated you. You need to kiss the feet of Jackie Sherrill and RC Slocum they account for 12 of those 19 wins without them the series would basically look like Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State

Nine pages in, has anyone correctly answered the OP's question?

Thanks for the explanation. It never made sense to me but I still approved of the practice, nonetheless.

All of the games are relevant you seem to not be able to understand that. A&M is so far behind it is pointless to even play which is basically what happened.

There’s a long letter written by tu officials making the case for the change and I even think it made several disparaging remarks about UT (the only real UT). Google it, I believe they wanted to sue you over the trademark after they changed their name from Texas University

I just want to emphasize that people in this thread are losing their minds over how dumb "tu" is, while thinking "aggy" is the height of whit and sophistication

It’s a joke.

It annoys many horns (see their follow-up aggy silliness).

UTex is a university "in" Texas not the university "of" Texas; so t.u. stands for texas university, with the lowercase letters being an added insult.

UTex called themselves Texas University for years.

Our conference brothers, Tennessee, are UT.

Unless A&M is about to become the Citadel, those games in the 40s, 50s and 60s aren't really relevant.

Back in the day when "college" and "university" weren't as interchangeable, the state "university" was generally where the graduate degrees were. If something was a college, it was just undergraduate degrees.

Texas A&M University was originally "The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas", as tu was "the university of texas"... yet we went by Texas AMC, just as tu often went by texas university. The order didn't matter.

To no other group of pretentious pricks would this be offensive, except at tu where they are so stupid that they don't even know what they are arguing. Their own vanity has caused involuntary equivocation. It's hilarious.

Look at tu's other Daddy, OU. Officially known as The University of Oklahoma. You know what Sooners often call their in-state rivals in Stillwater? Aggies. Why? Because Oklahoma State was originally Oklahoma A&M and they called themselves the Oklahoma Aggies.

Much as Texas A&M are the Texas Aggies.

This is so simple, I love how butthurt teasips get over this.

You haven't won anything in Decades. Your trophy case is an embarrassment you have very little to none actual winning tradition so you have to create silly things like the yell practice, 12th man, those homosexual milkmen male cheerleaders, etc.

You might as well be Citadel. You have no winning tradition of any kind in modern football. None.

Except every single time one of these threads appears, it’s penned by a non-Ag.

Then the horns and Tigers flock to it.

It finally starts to die its inevitable death, and a horn returns to bump it.

The whole thing is very formulaic.

You come across as a very insecure person. Did you attend the University of Alabama?

Good grief some of y’all get worked up.
Why is our trophy case an embarrassment to you?
And we’re not too concerned with your take on our “silly” traditions.
Your post, however (e.g., “homosexual”), speaks volumes about you.

Texas and Tennessee went to court over the use of UT as an on field logo and helmet logo. It was finally settled (I think out of court) by dividing things up so that East of the Mississippi, Tennessee had rights and West of the Mississippi, Texas had rights. Being the much older school, we probably could've pushed the issue but back then no one watched out of market/timezone games so it didn't matter all that much and the two schools were fine with it.

That said, we switched to the power T on the field and on helmets and Texas eventually went with the longhorn logo. And tbh, I think both schools wound up with better logos than the one we originally fought over.

I'd love to read that letter tho. It sounds salty!

Your internet LIES. I did the same thing and three came up and only The University of Tampa has the homepage address of ut.edu.

Univ of Texas was utexas.edu.....and Tennessee's was utk.edu.

Your internet must be a titbrain.

Personally, I think the t.u. thing is stupid. But I have no problem calling them 'sips, even when talking to my friends that are UT alumni

It's all in good fun, but I don't live in Texas either.

THE USC (University of Southern California) took South Carolina to court over the use of "USC" and "SC" interlocking logos on their uniforms, etc. Southern California WON. Below are two links to this story...
