Mallett is still on the board because he is a slow white boy with rumors of drug issues. Bottom line.
1) Race almost certainly has nothing to do with it.
2) His lack of mobility certainly does.
3) I don't think drug use explains it all. I really don't think the NFL cares that much.
The only logical explanation is that there is something about his game that teams don't like.

No. Gabbert really did not surface until Luck decided to go back to Stanford.
Wrong IMO - typical SEC fan probably didn't notice him but he was on the radar for the NFL this year
I'm not dogging Mallett in this case btw... just saying I don't think most SEC fans knew about Gabbert cause they don't watch much Missouri football

Not basing that off of my opinion. I am basing that on reading each week who ESPN had as their top draft eligible QBs.

That is what I like to call "sarcasm"

Of course they do. We are not talking about a DT, OT, or WR....We are talking a QB, the potential face of a franchise. It matters a lot in this case.
He did not start falling until the drug rumors, this is a fact. He did not participate in Senior Bowls etc., in order for something else, other than drug rumors to take a toll on his stock.

when asked if Mel Kiper's rankings were in his war room... Parcells raised his eyebrows and responded... "they weren't in our draft room... I dunno, maybe they are in some people's"

Well, you can believe what you want to believe. I don't think anybody is going to persuade you that Mallett isn't a perfect QB. So whatever, I'm done with you.

The NFL must know something we don't. I don't recall hearing anything bad about Mallett's conduct in his time at UM or Ark. I always thought it was trash talking and speculation but there may have been something to it after all.

He's not perfect by any means, but he has the advantage over others in (Arm,Protection Schemes, audibles and defensive reads)
I think he'll be fine whereever he is drafted

i would agree. look, some on here are trying to say it must be his game because other players already drafted have issues
but the truth is, none of those players had the media completely blasting them for the past few months. Any time Mallett's name is mentioned, no matter what, "character concerns" is tagged along.
that puts extra pressure on a team. they may like him, but all anybody in the public hears is "character issues" and "the next Leaf". he's a bigger risk just based on perception, whether there's truth behind it or not.

4/28/2011 at 11:44pm HUMNOKE — As the final few picks were made in the 2011 NFL Draft’s first round, Ryan Mallett passed the time chatting with family and friends.
Mallett spent the end of the first round much like he’d spent the entire day. More than 70 people gathered Thursday at a hunting lodge near Stuttgart to watch the draft and support the record-setting Arkansas quarterback as he waited to hear his name called.

Sugartown, any idea whose club he's at?

Never said he was perfect. Never hinted that he was. It looks as if you cannot have a legitimate argument with someone who is intelligent.
Fact remains that Mallett came out as a junior. He did not work out for any teams prior to the combine. He did not take part in any Senior Bowl, etc. Add to this that Mallett embarrassed both Locker and Dalton on national tv before the Super Bowl in a throwing competition.
The drug rumors, or shall we say "character" issues were already circulating.
How does someone's draft stock "fall" when they have not worked out for anyone? Dang near impossible without the spreading of the drug rumors.

Of all the places to hold your draft party, Humnoke, Arkansas??? Why not Humphrey? Altheimer? or Allport?
The guy who owns the "duck lodge" is married to Mallett's dad's sister.

I think a few Bama fans knew about him. I think we were his distant second choice. I know Nick really wanted him.

I can pretty much guarantee that Mallett will make several GM's look like real dumb shits here in a year or two. Which personally, I think they are.

The Sugar Bowl choke special simply cost his team a win and untold embarrassment..last night cost him estimated 10 million dollars.
