That wasn’t the same Texas though. Y’all lost 8 or 9 defensive starters. I have no doubt y’all would have gotten to Burrow if we played last year.

I will be very surprised if y’all score over 24 offensive points. Even 24 may be pushing it. I think this game will be much more defensive than Texas fans are suggesting and what this comes down to is whether Texas can stop LSU’s offense. I mean no offense when I say this, but I’m not worried about our defense against y’all. Ehlinger will get his, but like I said our defense isn’t what I’m worried about. If y’all can stop our O, you can keep the game close and anything can happen. If y’all can’t with the amount of punts I expect Texas to have (again, that doesn’t mean I think your offense is bad, I just think our defense is really good), well, this game could get ugly IMO. But I hope it doesn’t it’s a huge game between 2 national brands and I hope it’s entertaining.

Your defense isn't in question. I'm sure it's great. It usually is. The problem with defending them, is their size. I don't care how good or how physical your defense is, they can match your physicality with their offense, and beat you with their size. They are built to rumble with anybody. That's what they do. You need to focus on Ehlinger. You stop him, you stop whorn.

The matchup problem that I don't like is.....I love what Orgeron is attempting to do with your offense. I really do. But you're nowhere near in the same universe as the offenses they face week to week. You just aren't there yet on offense. You aren't. I don't mean that as a slight either. They're going to focus on your RBs by swarming the line of scrimmage and make your QB throw into their secondary which is the strength of their defense. That's the matchup that makes me nervous.

Texas' D works on both run and pass blitzes.

Where Texas is strongest is at safety.
They do return the most important pieces to their defense IMO.
Would rather lose those 7 starters than not have Ossai, Foster, Sterns and Jones.

They still have experience on D. A lot of players have taken a lot of snaps.

The danger with LSU is Burrow running the football.
He is tough.
Texas will probably try to spook him early but he is a warrior.

Your secondary is legit. No doubt about it. I think the biggest difference we will see in that game is schematically. Herman and Orlando have been game planning for you boys all summer long. I'm sure Ed O has done the same for Texas. The kicker is Texas has brought in some very talented coaches as analysts and you can bet your arse they have been dissecting every aspect of your game. Granted, your offense is changing this year but it won't be anything they haven't seen before at Texas, Houston, Ohio State. Herman gets a lot of flack for being mensa but the dude is legitimately a nerd when it comes to football. He shares some of that Belichick/Brady love of the preparation. The wins are just the cherry on top it seems.

I don't think he understands the fact that LSU's DC does a lot of stuff like Todd Orlando.

This is why who is more creative on offense will be important.

This is where LSU is lacking unless Joe Brady really gets his voice heard.
Orgeron dismissed Canada very quickly two years ago against Mississippi State.

This is why if anyone gets blown out it would be LSU.
Just because of the uncertainty on offense.
They can come in there and wanting to go down field and Burrow has trouble.

Where LSU will be lacking is that their QB would be playing at KSU in the BIG XII. They don't understand that. I'm not dogging them, I'm just relaying cold reality. Purdy is better than their QB by a mile, and he plays at Iowa State. I don't see their QB picking your secondary apart at all. I don't think Orlando does either.

Well to be fair Texas faces a bunch of terrible defenses week in and week out in the big 12. No offense, but big 12 defenses have more holes than swiss cheese.

Texas intimidated Purdy because he was young.
Burrow is a warrior. I think Texas would be off with him being overconfident
He been around too long to turn into bitch

Uh, you're not entirely wrong but I think you're missing a crucial aspect of Big 12 football there, bud. The Big 12 is without a doubt the best offensive conference in the country. If SEC teams played in the Big 12 you would see your defensive stats go to hell in a hand basket real quick. You can't be one or two dimensional on defense in the Big 12. You want to stop the run? Cool, we'll take the top off. You want to stop the long ball? Cool, we'll RPO you to death. You want to stop the dink an dunk stuff? Cool, we'll lull you to sleep with it and the minute you bite we send one 60 yards through the air and burn your secondary in the process. That is life in the Big 12.

I understand enough about football to know that playing against shitty defenses makes your offensive stats look better.

And if Texas is so physical, why did they struggle so much last year with their easy schedule?

Loses to Maryland, okie st, WVU.
Struggle wins against Tulsa, Kansas St, Baylor and Kansas.

Besides the OU and UGA game, Texas looked very average. And they lost tons of starters on both sides of the ball.

I'm not saying LSU is going to blow then out, but there are a lot more question marks for UT than their fans would care to admit.

Can you post links to who your starting corners are?

Derek Stingley Jr.

So two 5* corners to go along with the best safety in CFB.

I guess we'll just have to wait and find out on September 7th.

By the way, I saw your list of players missing from practice earlier today. That can't be good for installing an entirely new offense and overall team cohesion. What's going on with all of those guys sitting out?

Great players. What's the biggest WRs you've seen them face in your opinion?

A bunch of guys sat out today to rest up for our first scrimmage tomorrow. Also the majority of the people who sat out are upper class defensive players.

Nobody is seriously hurt.

Besides the receivers they face every day in practice? LSU's got quite a few receivers that are 6'3 and taller.

I'd say Alabama or Ole Miss.

Alabama has the best wide receiver corps in the nation and Ole Miss had some serious size last year. It's been years since LSU's secondary has been lit up.

If Texas beats LSU it's going to be because Ehlinger has a monster game on the ground and LSU's new offense is still terrible.
