I truly don't understand the crazy hype you guys are giving Nuss. He's a solid college QB but against the 6 Top 25 defenses you played last season (Carolina, Ole Miss, A&M, Bama, Florida, OU)

147/261 (56.3%)
301 YPG
6.9 YPA
12 TD
8 INT

It isn't just LSU fans, he's the favorite on several betting sites. There are several factors involved:

Not many returning, high end contenders

Some are expecting him to make a second year jump similar to Burrow/Daniels

They had no running game for long stretches last season, if they can run the ball effectively this year, that will help

He has elite level arm talent although I'm not sure he has elite level receivers like Burrow/Daniels

I personally think Nuss will be marginally better, but not Heisman worthy.

I'm 95% sure Manning isn't winning it.

I'm 100% sure Nuss isn't.

that's all I got.

Nuss > Manning, but heisman is a fickle award. You could be the best player all year, but not get enough exposure, and it doesn’t even matter.

Nussbaum is shlt. He has no chance. Arch might develop enough, but who knows.

Nico and Arch will be the top 2 QB’s in the country next year.

Nico will have to learn to go through his progressions first. He hasn't shown that he can do that yet.

I agree, that most of it is hype/potential. I think some of it is warranted though as he is extremely talented, showed flashes of brilliance, and it was his first year starting. He has to stop throwing off his back foot and he needs to feel pressure better in order to be elite. I worry if we struggle on defense and get behind, he will press and make poor decisions (see the 3 game losing streak).

It wouldn't shock me if it clicks for him and and he goes off in a big way, nor would it shock me if he only shows slight improvement and has a similar season. Either way, I think he is a top 3 SEC QB by default.

Manning's not better than Nuss or the field.

That's just the thing. We don't know that. He certainly has better running ability than his uncles and he could be a better college passer than both. He is the poster child for hype.

Serious question, what the hell happened to him last year? I realize he didn't exactly implode statistically after 2023, but damn he looked like an entirely different player. I fully expected him to improve, certainly not regress. I am not pumping Nuss here, but if you guys had him last year, I think you run away with the NC. Hell, you win it all with the 2023 version of Beck.

Do you think it was just a bad year or did he peak in '23?

Agree, and think he is a good QB and would be excited to have him back as an LSU fan.

Sums it up well. What about you guys George. Do you see the QB play this year at Bama being better overall?

Milroe was the biggest anomaly of the last 20 years in the SEC. He was all-world at times and borderline awful at others. I just wish I had seen the awful and not the all-world in BR last year.

It’s a long shot but I can see Jaxon Arnold doing very well at Auburn. He’ll have actual WR’s. It wouldnt shock me in the least he gets an invite.

And I think you summed it up re: the weird spot we are in. I think overall it will be better because you can't be a consistent team with a QB that plays the way Jalen did. I think the combination of Grubb coming in + whoever the new QB is will lead to a more "normal" offense that is in a lot more 2nd and 5s and looks like the Grubb/DeBoer offenses at Washington looked. However, I think that we'll also realize that while he was maddening Jalen did have the ability to get us out of some jams with his pure athleticism.

If Ty is above average and consistent I think we'll be pretty good. If he's not then I think we'll see the freshman and roll with the punches.

Don't care who wins the Heisman. I want football games won not awards.
