Who knows, coach O could win them a National Championship. All the LSU fans I know love and respect Miles. The man won a championship and played for another. It's not as far fetched as one would think.

This is his third full season. How many years was Les at LSU ?
Frankly, the jury is still way out on whether Eaux is any better. In fact, based on his OC/QB coach selections, he may end up worse.
But since he's had two Big10 transfer QBs win the starting job, it's kinda hard to make that determination either way.
tl;dr - if LSU fired Miles because of his inability to recruit and/or develop SEC level QBs, choosing Eaux (who had exactly 0 quality QBs in 3 1/2 seasons as an HC prior to his LSU hire) to replace him is a total crapshoot.

I say this as an LSU fan without an agenda for/against any coaches.
The perception is that LSU is loaded for bear this season; we're currently favored to win 11 of the 12 games, being the underdog only to Alabama. And regarding Bama, historically we have a better shot winning on the road than at home. So there's some legit hope we break the streak this year on that front, too.
O has not been the disaster we feared, and he's gotten an extension for doing well.
But this season is the money year, the year we expect to return to the top tier. Last year we hovered around it like an uninvited guest, and things should be a lot more polished now.
8-4 would be considered a big, big disappointment, and O doesn't have the AD that hired him around anymore. Even 9-3 would be very much a bad situation. And yet, there are teams on the schedule that objectively, you could see winning.

God willing Orgeron stays at LSU for the next two decades
