Who remembers the old Kickoff Classic and Pigskin Classic games?

I love the week 0 game in Dublin, but back in the good old days of the sport, these two early matchups usually involved high quality teams. It was a perfect intro to the season.
Wish we'd bring these games back.

was awesome. Believe it was Ron Franklin, Keith Jackson, and maybe Bob Griese calling those games in the 90s

Wasn't one of them played in New Jersey at the Meadowlands

The original kickoff game was played at the old Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands. The first Pigskin Classic was held in Anaheim in 1990 between Colorado and Tennessee. I remember it was a top 10 matchup and ended in a tie.

Yes, the Kickoff Classic. I remember thge first one in 1983, when Nebraska beat Penn State 44-6. The 1984 game between Miami and Auburn, and the 1986 Bama vs Ohio State game were pretty good games. The 1987, Iowa vs. Tennessee game was good too. The Pigskin Classic was in Anaheim. I remember Tennessee and Colorado playing to a 20-20 tie in 90. The matchups started to get crappier in the 90's and blowouts started to occur like 1993, FSU vs. Kansas, and 1994, Ohio State vs. West Virgina.

I remember watching that game. I was in 3rd grade, and this was the season that I became interested in watching any game even if it didn't involve my team.

I know it's not the exact same, but last year's week 1 had Texas at Ohio State.
