I guess we will never know what I am, I just know I will check my stats/facts and read the subject line before I make a statement.
I hate being wrong that's why I make sure I am not wrong.

I was thinking the same thing. Where is he at I wonder?

Hunter
What kind of work?
I would say I am blinded by the purple and gold and my post on Rivals will show that. Coming over to hear I guess its like changing high schools. So many people say so much crap without knowing facts/stats/history behind it.
LSU is a great team but they are not the greatest team ever. I do not know about many LSU fans but I can live with just being great and winning 8-13 wins a year for 9 seasons.
It is alot better than what it was before that much is for sure.

I dunno. I haven't seen him in awhile. Haven't checked to see if he's been lurking. And why am I not surprised that we thought the same thing?

I agree.

Most definately. Most folks on the board are a younger generation and are too young to remember or have blocked out the previous decade, just as many Bama fans(myself included) have blocked out much of this decade.

Hunter + Cutie = Married???
They just lack the knowledge even myself I do not know everything about LSU history. Yet I know how Google functions and will double check something I am not sure about. Like I said earlier I hate being proved wrong so I try and limit those times.
I am sure on a message board with this many posters there are some that have more inside info than myself. Some that do know more than myself so I better be right when I post something.

the toughest team to beat since that time would have been Southern Cal. They have put the most guys in the NFL draft and it's not even very close.

Fail. LSU currently has the most players in the NFL at 51, tied with Miami. USc is 4th IIRC. There was a post about it on these very forums.

If USCs argument is that the 2003 AP National Championship counts, then can I argue that Florida has 4 National Championships (2 BCS, 2 AP) and LSU has 3 National Championships (2 BCS, 1 AP)?

Good point about the National Championships. He actually expanded his statement on accident and said they were the best team this decade. So I came back with the 13 losses from 2000 to 2001.
I decided to just turn his delusions into a profit we're hammering out the details of the bet but it's Bama + UF up against USC + anyone he chooses (not Texas) for the national championship.

Did some research, all stats start with 2000 season and end with the 2008 season.
Overall record
USC 93-22
LSU 90-27
UF 87-29
Bowl Record
LSU 7-2
USC 6-2
UF 4-5
BCS Bowl Record
LSU 4-0
USC 6-1
UF 4-1
Conference Record
USC 65-16
UF 56-19
LSU 53-23
OOC Record
LSU 37-4
USC 28-6
UF 31-10
National Championships
LSU 2
UF 2
USC 1
Conference Championships
USC 7 (3 CO-CHAMPS)
LSU 3
UF 3
Average Final Ranking
USC 11
LSU 12
UF 12
Head to Head Wins
UF 5
LSU-4
My Take:
After looking over all categories there is no clear cut winner. I'm not going to discuss USC because its a little harder to compare them to LSU and UF due to the fact that they are in a different conference. The argument that i would like to make is that if anything LSU has the slight upper hand over UF at this point in time, and at best UF is tied with us. LSU is ahead or tied in all categories save conference record and head to head wins. Obviously this will probably be the defining year for the mythical "team of the decade" but currently i say LSU takes the crown over UF.

But the OP wants 2002, if you take away those 2 seasons (2000/2001) then the numbers sway dramatically to USC with LSU as second.

Thanks for the stats, and we extended it to cover 2000 and 2001 as well "team of the decade" was used.
Crazy how close those three programs are over 10 years, but that clearly shows the SOS would favor LSU and UF.
