Not great. LSU will destroy. Georgia I'm afraid. Unless Bama gets it's act together the only legit defense. LSU will face is Florida and their offense in so inept the defense won't be able to hold them late in the game

Has he faced any legit pressure so far this year? I haven't been able to catch any tiger games

Hunt Palmer local LSU radio host broke the Auburn game down and said he looked a little shaky when Auburn got in his face. I was only able to we the games in spots because I was at work.

not going to really take either Hill or Gurley out of the game. They'll get their yards. However, you stand a chance with Mett. Take him out and the game is yours
If we simply try to take away mett and let hill do his thing, he'll run for 250 yards and LSU will keep the ball for 45 minutes.
Look at how mett has done on an opponent's home field in his career. This isn't trash talking, it's looking at facts..the guy isnt' nearly as good of a QB on the road as he is at home. I know he has improved this year, but unfortunately we don't have any data from 2013 in regards to that because this is his first away game.
But my point is, if we do our best to limit Hill, I'll take our chances with making mett beat us. Hill genuinely worries me, mett doesn't really.

I wouldn't say shaky at all. They did get to him though.

he did look shaky at times vs auburn but part could have been the field, the other part was our oline thought it would be fun to quit playing

LSU has always done you have to tighten up in the red zone and hold to FG if possible.
This is the key to beating LSU. Make us work in the red zone and don't let us get big scoring plays of 20+ yards or more (which negates our need to convert in the red zone).
LSU's problem has been stalling out in the red zone or more broadly inside the 30. It's been much better so far this year but historically that's where we've faltered by failing to finish drives.
This was in the Reveille this week:
quote:
Prior to the Auburn contest, LSU was 15 of 16 on scoring conversions inside the opponent’s 20-yard line, scoring 11 touchdowns and four field goals in wins against TCU, UAB and Kent State.
LSU got five more attempts when Auburn arrived Saturday, and converted three of its five chances for scores. All three came courtesy of rushing touchdowns by the combination of senior fullback J.C. Copeland and sophomore running back Jeremy Hill.
Only four programs in the conference have been more successful inside the opponent’s 20: Ole Miss, Auburn, South Carolina and Missouri. LSU has the second-most red zone chances in the conference with 21, trailing only Texas A&M’s 29.
quote:
In a three-loss 2012 season, the Tigers had their lowest red zone conversion percentage in six seasons — LSU converted 84.9 percent of the time in 53 red zone chances.
The squad fared better against SEC competition last season, scoring 25 times in 29 chances (86.2 percent).
quote:
LSU has scored in the red zone at least 84.9 percent of the time in every season since 2007. The Tigers led the SEC in conversions in both 2007 and 2011 with 93.3 and 93.4 percent success rates respectively.
That 2011 stat is deceiving because a lot of those scores in the red zone were field goals, not touchdowns. Which is kinda the point...

I agree to an extent but if you're the UGA DC I would still force Mett to beat me as he still hasn't faced a true SEC road enviroment. That's just my opinion though.

I understand that. But I just think trying to take HIll out is pointless. Limit our passing, which would be much easier, and you win.

I think the real key is stopping us early and forcing a turnover to see if les seizes up and takes control from cam
Agree but not for irrational Les hatred reasons.
Georgia has to set the pace to force LSU to pass more. This offense is deadly if you have the running game working. Cameron wants to play the defense like an accordion. It'll all fall to shite if they can sit back and play coverage. Just think back to Baltimore in the regular season last year.

See normally it's a no brainer. But LSUs WRs are scary this year. You can stack the box to try and stop hill, which might be the only way to stop him, but that leaves favorable match ups in the secondary with Landry and Odell. I don't know.
This is my thinking. So far, we have seen Cam loving to throw deep balls when there is 1 on 1 coverage. When UGA stacks the box and leaves a cb without safety help, you are going to see Mett going for a deep ball, play action or not.

I honestly don't know. Our offense is actually stacked. I have no idea how to process this. It's never been an issue.

Good point. Mett haven't proven squat on the road thus far in his career. Hill is definitely scarier but in order to stop him you need extra players around the LOS.
IMO that opens up the defensive backfield for two good to great WRs from having a lot of open space to work with. Thank god we don't play them till November.

Well what's the alternative, don't pay him any attention at all?

les has a history of it on the road, such as at auburn in 06 and uf last year.
but yea even taking the les miles part out, the biggest key is forcing us to limit the options by causing a turnover or two. i think we can still rack up yards even in coverage bc odell and landry are monsters right now. especially if odell gets the drops under control on the deep balls
