A&M predates the university of Texas, was established before them and was the first public institution of higher learning in the state. Once t.u. was established later,
they tried to shut down and de-fund A&M via the state
legislature and legal maneuvers. That backfired on them when they had to give up a part of the PUF to us.

You aggies are a hoot. Seriously.

The University of Texas was planned years before A&M or even the college land-grant program was ever a gleam in anyone's eye.

The Republic of Texas established (key word) The University of Texas in 1839; the State of Texas established The University of Texas in 1858.

A&M was established in 1871, and opened in 1876. It opened earlier because it got federal money through the land-grant act, while the state university (The University of Texas) had to wait until the state had enough money without federal aid, and then selected its location.

Off the top of my head (but two examples, there's more): Kansas State University opened two years before The University of Kansas... does that make Kansas State "big brother"? Of course not.

Colorado State U opened six years before the University of Colorado in Boulder. Is CU-Boulder "little brother" frick no.

Face it, aggies. You have never been "The University of Texas" and all that it implies in any form or fashion, and you never will be.

Considering that "The University of Texas" is now synonymous with "gay, spineless pussy", I'm glad we're not you.

Some things are just a given, i.e. Oklahoma is big brother to OSU....

Oh no doubt, they were certainly ahead of us before then. Good thing football didn't really start until 1990 though

Certainly ahead of us before Spurrier? You can't be serious. We were 22-9-1 before 1990 and it was only that close because they got 4 of their 9 wins during probation years. Their best years against us were ironically while Spurrier was the head coach.

You can plan something all you want. You have to actually execute your plan first to be the oldest.

Will we still be little brother with a National Championship? National Championships actually won > Recruiting titles

I have been saying for years that Spurrier actually underachieved. It would be like Saban going 5-8-1 against Auburn.

Why do you come on an SEC board to spew your propaganda? Your administration has made it very clear that they want nothing to do with the SEC.

When the first college students were sitting in a classroom in a public university in Texas, where were they? College Station, Texas.

It is no accident that you schedule night games when the Aggies play an SEC game at 2:30 on national TV.

So why don't you go back to your competing with New Mexico, Baylor, and Tech. The bigwtf conference isn't even a pimple on the azz of the SEC.

They were a national brand before Spurrier. We weren't.

Is Clemson not historically a top 20 program?

Not exactly. They're borderline top 30 in the CFDW rankings though.
