Yes but they are still in their prime.
Eta, the only people who will hire Mack are schools looking for in roads in Texas.

This is different than hiring a guy in their mid-60s to rebuild your program, which is usually what you are doing when hiring/firing coaches. He would be a stop gap coach, at best, for a program.

His age isn't the issue. He's spent.

I second this.

The bastard makes more than the budgets of half the states in the conference.

He's content/apathetic at his job.
He didn't like firing his buddies when it was obvious Texas needed a change.
After Vince Young won him that title, he set everything on cruise control.

Brown could lead UK to the SECCG

He would be in his 60s before the Arkansas job opened again and nobody is going to pay his buyout amount to Baylor.

This. If you can't win with Texas resources, you can't win.

Then they have only had two coaches in their program's history "who can win" and he's one of them...

If you can't get it done at Texas, where can you get it done?
Posted on 9/9/13 at 7:24 pm to VinnieCeesChaser
I wouldn't want him if I was a Troy fan. If you can't win at Texas, you can't win anywhere. UT has 9 wins automatically every single season with a minimally competent coach. Consistently sucking for 4 straight seasons and recruiting at a mildly above average level is simply negligence at a place like Texas.

Fulmer is better than Mack Brown - and he had a far easier gig - and absolutely no program worth a damn wanted Fulmer... So.

My sentiments, exactly. A rabid baboon would do a better job than mack
