Barring an absolute collage or major incident Butch will get at least next year. If he can continue to recruit and turn some of the close games into wins then we will see.

I dont think either gets fired anytime in the next 2-3 seasons
i tend to agree with this, but there are higher expectations for Gus and the programs seem to be trending in opposite directions the last 2 seasons. Butch has done a great job building their program back from the Derek Dooley days and Gus has the BCS appearance, but me thinks Gus will be 1st to go.

Butch is making large improvements. Any idiot can see that.
Gus on the other hand has been figured out. His time is over

I think butch being able to recruit and at least hang with teams full of 5 star upper class men will keep people from totally losing it. You have to remember that while Muschamp wasn't a great coach he at least kept the cupboard stocked for Florida, Dooley didn't. Butch players have been the majority of the 2 deep since they arrived. It's hard to beat a team like Alabama that has 5 stars in there 3 deep that are 22 years old, much less when your young and your backups are younger. I personally think he needs to make some coaching personel changes but there's no one that was gonna come in and just start beating the piss out of the sec with our roster. Harboughs wins don't look as impressive as they did a few weeks ago either.

Exactly my point OP used best case scenario for UT and worst case scenario for AU
to be fair I'm using the scenario most paid college football analysts are using and not my own. Based on the games of both I've watched, UT has had a better shot at winning the games they lost - AU on the other hand...

Don't get me wrong, we suck. But we lost a 4OT game that included more drops than a dubstep concert and a one possession game in which we went full retard every time we got in the redzone. Saying we could be 6-1 isn't any more outrageous than saying UT could be 6-1.

Butch had to do something with those 40 deep recruiting classes, why not the 2 deep
Both are frauds......
Both are frauds......

unless Jay Jacobs gets fired Gus is going to be HC longer guarantee you. I'm not even convinced that Gus is a bad manager his team yet. he has not lost control the team which is good for Auburn. At least he can manage the team better than f****** predecessor Chiznick.

I think Auburn is kind of tired of paying their former coaches a lot of salary in present dollars.

I just don't see how you can determine that and not say the same about almost every coach, Saban lost at home to a team that lost to memphis, would that not make Saban and freeze bit frauds also? What about Bert and richt? Bert lost to a non p5 school and richt lost to one of the previously mentioned frauds so naturally he is as well. So a coach, any coach should be able to turn any roster around completely with 2 big recruiting classes, and by big I mean an extra 5 or 6 recruits? Is that what you're saying?

how is bert not in this race

Chizik won his championship game
His fatal error was trying to go pro style with the spread athletes, Gus swoops in and picks up with the spread and it worked. Its not a shocker. Now Gus is on his own with mostly his guys and he is 4-8 in conference since the title run. Changing schemes dramatically makes a difference. Chizik coaches Gus under the table and Gus isn't doing a thing to dispute that
