Probably Johnie Cooks, most will say Dak though.
I say D.D. Lewis. Cooks was a higher draft pick, but Lewis was All-SEC and All-American on some terrible teams (went 7-23 in his 3 seasons), and is in the College Football Hall of Fame. Plus, he played both ways, even though the unlimited substitution rules were already in place.
Jackie Parker is our other College HOF inductee, and he might be considered a better choice than D.D. Lewis. Two-time SEC MVP, and led the nation in scoring his Senior year (probably helped that he was the kicker, too). But he only played 2 seasons, which is why I pick Lewis.

The most decorated QB in SEC history.

Think he's going to be the best if you consider post-aTm accomplishments as well. He already got Denver a Superbowl.

I watched big John Hannah and the only man he didn't blow away was the Fridge in 85 super bowl ...a stalemate

For teams with a history like that of Alabama, it's impossible to designate one person as the "best player"....maybe you could at individual positions, but there's too many "greats" to simply name one.

Most will say George Rogers, but I say John Abraham. He was a monster for us on those 1998 and 1999 teams that lost 21 straight. He amassed 23.5 career sacks in spite of us having almost no other talent.

I was told Harry Gilmer by some old timers a long time ago. But in my life, it was Derrick Thomas. I have never seen one player just take over a game like DT was known to do from time to time.
