I think we got a shot, but it comes down to which red shirt freshman QB makes the most plays. But I got A&M with a shot, Ole Miss offense with a better shot, and if they meet Georgia in the SECCG, Georgia will have an edge on offense it rarely has, and can match defense.
I’d put LSU and Auburn with the discussion if I knew what Auburns new offense is gonna looke like bc I like Tank, and I’d say LSU but I don’t know who their QB is going to be, or if their OL was solid enough to score over 30 points an outing. Last year, that OL cost them games.

Why does Ole Miss have a shot?
They don't. This is a "hot take"

Why does Ole Miss have a shot? Their defense won't be stopping anyone, much less a team with Alabama's run game.
Because we will be breaking in new offense and against a team with an offense that explosive we could have a bad quarter, look up and be down 28-7.
I wouldn't say it's likely but it's definitely possible. It's happened before. We still win most of the time, but a lot of the games we've lost against great offensive teams follow that same script.

The last team to beat BAMA was a 'Homefield Auburn' team, Saban is 3-7 alltime in JHS.
Auburn plays Bama at home this year.

A&M is sooooo overrated it isn't even funny
Defense should be legit
We'll know if the "Mond was holding us back" argument was bullshite or not by mid October.

When your only hope this year is home field advantage, it may be a rough season.

Auburn wasnt supposed to beat Bama at all during the Saban era, every Auburn team has been less talented since he arrived, but somehow....

Only thing they have in common with A&M then.

If Auburn goes into the Alabama game with the West on the line and ranked in the Top 10 then we'll probably lose.
If Auburn goes into the game sitting at 7-4 or 6-5 then we'll win.

Auburn has only lost 1 home game in the last 2 years...

This is also assuming the Bama defense won't be legit this season. All signs point to this being one of the deepest and most talented defensive rosters Saban has fielded. There's a lot of experience on the Dline, an actual reliable pass rush, a talented secondary and a stacked ILB rotation.
They could be average, but I highly doubt it.

accurate, Saban has trouble with auburn teams win 8 plus wins. not sure if he has ever a beaten a 8 plus win auburn team

Southern Miss is on the schedule. They have 6 wins vs Bama in football. Upset alert

A&M maybe on paper, but Ole Miss I think is the more likely choice.
I think Kiffin wants nothing more in life than to be the first former assistant to beat Saban, and knows how to abuse Saban's tendencies.
I suppose you could say LSU has the talent, but they have a long way to go as a team.

Texas A&M has beaten Bama once since entering the SEC, you must mean A&M is not gonna do it.

No it doesn't assume that. We've had great defenses get whiplashed for a quarter......even specifically against Ole Miss. 2016 is one of the greatest Alabama defenses I've ever seen. They gave up 17 points and 243 yards in the 1st half in Oxford and the offense gave up another 7.
IMHO, the most likely loss will be a game in which we struggle on offense relative to how well we have to play to win the game. Against Ole Miss it could be not scoring enough combined with some bad turnovers. Against A&M it could be just not scoring enough because we have too many empty drives and then can't find answers late.
Doesn't mean it will happen, but if we lose that's how I'm guessing we lose a game.

And go back one more year, and they choked to a horrible Tennessee team at home. So, no need to act like they're unbeatable when playing there.
