That is correct, however the redshirt rules were different in 1988 (Gardere's true freshman year) than they are today. Gardere participated only on the practice squad and never played a down during redshirt year. His 4 wins were all non-redshirt.

Ironic indeed as during his football career Oklahoma was always the higher ranked team and Texas usually unranked.

For Mississippi State it is John Bond (1989-1983) vs LSU (I know we aren’t their main rival). Per Wikipedia:

Gary Gibbs started in 89. Was OU on probation? How many scholarships did OU lose? Switzer left a mess.

Five in a row, 2000-2004. Texas went untouched in 2005.

Wouldn't be that difficult. Find freshman starters in 2000 and 2001 seasons only. Then confirm they remained starters and played against Texas the following 3 years. Anyone in the 2002 class and after won't make it.

Just because most sips thought his peter was great doesn’t make him “Peter the Great”.
OU isn’t your main rival. Go to any sip board and the threads with derogatory remarks are at least 2-1 A&M over OU. Plus, sips root for anyone playing versus A&M…even OU.
No, sirp, tu and OU in recent years have been the biggest blow buddies in college football.
