That's price you pay for recruiting well. It also makes each individual better for it. Dee Hart is a talent, but so are all the other RBs. It may be T.J. Yeldon on his heels this year, but Tyren Jone and Altee Tenpenny will be there next year.

Only read the first few pages of the thread, but there is a lot of talk about the "talent" in bama's backfield as if the guy running 5th string for LSU right now wasn't offered by basically everyone, was considered by most observers as the better prospect over Hilliard at the time, and is just as talented as anyone that has never played for Alabama.
Both teams will have great running games. OL is a wash IMO. Running backs may end up being a wash, but considering LSU returns every single rusher, plus adds Hill, from a team that rushed for almost 2,900 yards and 35 touchdowns. Alabama rushed for 2,800 and 34 touchdowns.
But Bama loses 1700 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Thus, right now, LSU gets the nod. But I suspect Alabama will pick up right where it left off last year, but I don't Lacy as the next Richardson, far from it.

It's all a prediction thread. However, I don't think we will miss all that much. We've recruited at RB so well. We shouldn't drop off any.
Do you ever see Wisconsin drop off at RB ? Every once in awhile, BUT they always have a great OL and they don't recruit RBs like we do, either.

IMO Yeldon is a Heisman type back, it will be interesting to see how the lineup shapes up. I can't see all these backs being content not playing. Usually these 5 star guys have entitlement issues it's going to take a hell of a coaching job to keep them all happy.

Will all american selections factor in ?
Will the quartet that produces a Hiesman winner be awarded the best foursome by proxy even though the other three backs shared 30 % of the carries ?

And I'm predicting nobody on your roster is as good as Richardson.

What does this mean? When are you talking about? Monte Ball returned last year.

I was talking about Hill's talent and recruitment. And where did I say Hilliard was the best? He's a good player and showed that last season.

Wisconsin has had a string of anonymous backs often starting only one year they all get over 1000 yards and most never play on Sundays.

I don't think any of them were anonymous backs during their college career.

I think everyone is just mindlessly debating right now. We can give LSU the edge because of returning experience in some respect, but Bama on paper has more talent. I say after both have finished their first 12 games (I say this because one of them will get an extra game in the SECCG) we could have this thread again and compare.

nah not really.

Yeah, and I think Alabama could put up amazing numbers once again because both teams are going to likely steamroll teams.

Can you name a Wisconsin back after Ron Dayne before Monte Ball without googling ?

I think it will work out, although I think Fowler gets shafted. He'll get shackled with the "short yardage" role, which isn't a complete compliment any time a specific RB gets that honor.

LSU, not even close. ware, blue, hilliard, ford all played meaningful time last year. it was pretty much the trent richardson show last year for bama(as it should have been). someone said bama would have the better oline, but i guess they don't know that LSU returns 4/5 offensive lineman from last years team.

Does John Clay count? ha. Seriously though I could but you will just believe that I googled it.

"The Winnebago" PJ Hill.

Seems like I remember this topic as it relates to QBs quite well from the summer of '09. Specifically, LSU's experienced QB vs. Bama's never-started-a-game QB. I'm sure the correlation can be drawn to your RB argument and is thus proven to be potentially incorrect.quote:
Yes, because experience proving your talent (our RBs) equates to experience sucking donkey arse (JJ).
Totally unrelated arguments.
Not really...the argument is the same, just at different positions. With that said, LSU's RBs 'should' be better than ours. Much like LSU's claim in '09 that JJ 'should' be better than G-Mac.
'Should' is not always a sure thing...as LSU folks should know moreso than most of the rest of us.
quote:
Again, to correlate further, why should LSU folks think that Mett this year is a sure thing? Simply being better than JJ is not necessarily all that great. Hell, JJ was barely better than I am.quote:
Because Mett has been proven (albeit at a lower level) and has shown so far to be vastly superior to JJ. Honestly even a slight improvement to JJ is great because we can run the table with that alone.
Also, no one is running around saying Mett will definitely be the best QB in the country no doubt. You know like the way you ignorant gumps are touting your inexperienced RBs.
Why didn't Mett get the ball in NOLA in January, then? You said he's vastly supperior. Either he's not as great as you seem to think, or your HC is an idiot.
Which is it?

For now it is fine to say LSU has the better RB unit, but Bama's O-Line also returns four guys, and all are better than LSU's returning guys. Is the gap huge? No, but Barrett, Fluker, Warmack, and even Cyrus get a lot of praise. I don't hear a lot of people loving Steen, but he's legit.

Is Clay with the Steelers still ?
