Florida finished middle of the pack this season, so I am not sure what your definition of cellar is.

The Gators won 8 games this year while having the most difficult schedule in the nation, poor play calling, gameday coaching. They finished the season strong winning their last four games beating Ole Miss and LSU, so I would argue that they were nowhere near the cellar, but having said that, for the Gators to get close to competing with the top teams in the SEC, changes will have to made in the coaching staff. Play calling, game management, along with depth and talent at key positions has to improve or Napier will be right back on the hot seat. I haven't paid enough attention to Auburn to answer for them. Go Gators.

Congrats on the 10th - 10 win season in school history against a low Strength Of Schedule and 4 years of fame.

2021 - 10-3 - SOS = 4.05
2023 - 11-2 - SOS = 3.80
2024 - 10-3 - SOS = 2.15

Where are we now?

0-0-0 just like everyone else but Texas.

Kiffin spent thousands of dollars trying to flip Knight and Henderson including lying out of his arse telling them and other recruits Hugh was in bad health and going retire.

Ole Miss supported Bo Wallace demon habits by paying him $$$ to throw shade at Hugh and Auburn during recruiting.

Auburn and Hugh have out recruited Ole Miss, Lane every year since Hugh’s hire despite win, loss records.

If you ask the coaches who once coached at Ole Miss and now at Auburn which school they prefer….your feeling will be hurt.

but we are cranking out 10+ win seasons
What does ole piss have to show for it? A few "prestigious" bowl trophies?

and getting better as a program
Get back to us when ole piss actually wins something of consequence.

all while you fell off the radar as a program
This quote proves that you are new to college football. Otherwise, you would be aware that Auburn is the most schizophrenic football program in college football. We have absolutely had some really bad seasons, but we have also been able to rebound to reach the pinnacle (something MUCH higher than division champs) in both the SEC and nationally.
quote:

With 16 teams in the SEC now, do you realize how bad you have to suck to be 3rd from last place?
With 16 teams in the SEC, do you realize how bad you have to suck HISTORICALLY to have not won the SEC in over 60 years?

And how bad you have to suck to have NEVER won a legitimate National Championship?

And how pitiful your program must be to be an original member of the SEC and yet, have still NEVER, EVER been to Atlanta to just even participate in an SEC Championship game. Hell, Texas has already made it their first year and I know for a fact that OU will go there BEFORE ole piss....despite the current state of both programs.

Some things are just constants in life: death, taxes and ole piss football wins nothing of consequence.
quote:

Congrats on all that history
Thank you. Same back to you.
quote:

but where are you now
Reloading and preparing to, ONCE AGAIN, start competing for and WINNING actual legitimate championships.

There is a reason coaches use ole piss as a stepping stone to better programs that give them a legitimate chance to win real, actual championships worth celebrating and worthy of hanging banners.

I will end this now by stating that at least ole piss has a currently better and historically more accomplished basketball progr.........

oh wait

Nevermind.

Both teams have major question marks.

Napier has to prove that he is willing to hand off some responsibilities. He seems like he is great at culture building and pretty good at development. He is not a great X's and O's guy and his game day management is poor. Unless we get an outside OC and DC, I am not optimistic that we finish better than 8ish wins next year.

Auburn seems to be banking a ton on the development of guys who came in a couple years ago as well as acquisitions from the portal. Hugh has shown that he can bring in talent. He hasn't shown that he can develop it.

Ole Miss throwing digs at Auburn on January 6th is right where we want them.

You program was fine when you fired Harrison...your talent index was inside the top 20. Higher than alot of teams who beat you.

Your coaching staff sucks. Not the head coach but most of the assistants. Your school suffers from weird internal politics which drains the life from the staff. I'll believe Auburn significantly improves when I see it.

And yet, we'd still rather be wearing orange & blue than shouting hotty toddy.

That number was propped up by pretender-bluechip athletes that did not deserve to be called a blue-chip. Koy Moore, Holden Geriner, Jeffrey Embah and so many more failed to perform, or worst, even get on the field. The so-called Team Index can take an L and a massive grain of salt.

I think both teams have better rosters and thus the players to make a jump forward in 2025.

I think it comes down to coaching, schemes and on field adjustments.

Based on all I have to go on at the moment I would say I lean UF based on 2024, but they’ve got a harder schedule in 2025.
