I'd say it's a toss up.

Honestly, imo, the team that throws most effectively will.

Bama will have a 5-8 minute advantage in TOP. Hurts isn't going to hurt UGA thru the air but he'll pick up some key 1st downs with his legs and mostly avoid the big sacks. It's going to be hard for UGA to get anything going in the running game at all because Fromm is going to struggle massively due to a relative lack of mobility. IMO he's going to spend alot of time on his back. Bama will roll up between 120-150yds and UGA will have between 50-100yds.

the only team this season that has held up the run game to that few yards was Auburn Round 1...we easily repaired that in Auburn Round 2...but magically Bama is going to be able to do it against the 5 headed monster?...I don't think so. Plus we get more yardage in the 2nd half....when your D-line gets worn down from the 5 headed beast...

who has Bama played this year with a running game like UGA?

I'll be here waiting.

While I think the people in here are mostly being overly optimistic, Bama’s 10-year history against the run in is pretty solid. They’ve even shut down a couple of good UGA run games.

I think Alabama will. Hurts will get plenty of yards.

But honestly, I think whoever completes the big passes on third downs wins the game.

Yeah... if we're strictly evaluating "rushing yardage"... it's going to be Bama, simply due to the addition of Hurts. Fromm might rush 2-5 times in the game, but would be surprised if we risked that level of exposure frequently, when we didn't even do it against Oklahoma who felt susceptible to it the whole game.

Bingo... offensive *efficiency* will likely rule the day. Whoever is able to keep their average 3rd to go yardage down is likely to have more success. I saw one of the UGA analysts talking about Mikah Fitzpatrick being a key... if he has to stay back in coverage, should be a good day for the dawgs... if they're able to consistently bring him up for run support or pressure, probably a long day/rough outing for the dawgs.

That is absolutely true. Most dawg fans are cautiously optimistic about the run game coming into this game.

We have faced nfl players on the DL all season (although, we have not faced a deeper squad).

Our OL has the highest potential out of any I can remember the past 18 seasons. We are young and about a year or two before that potential is reached, though.
The insertion of Ben Cleveland at RG has been a game changer after the first Auburn game (my favorite gif of the year is Cleveland pancaking Derrick Brown in the SECCG).

An interesting observation. How well our front 7 can pressure the passer should directly effect where MF spends the majority of his time on the field. Alabama will try to contain the run out of their regular 3-4, and if they can't, you'll see some run blitzes and tight corner play.
Again, this game could turn into a helluva chess match.

Auburn. They had 168 rushing but the key to that was 240yds of super efficient passing by Stidham who we did not pressure effectively. Don't get me wrong. If we don't get to Fromm I imagine it'll look about the same. The Problem for the Dawgs is that this Bama D isn't the same Bama D that Auburn faced. My Analysis isn't a guarantee it's my analysis.

Without all those stats, the eye test says UGA will be inconsistent on the run.

I don't even think that's it. I expect both teams to struggle mightily passing on 3rd downs. I don't believe either team will score 20 unless someone get's 7 from a NOT. It will be who Comes closest to staying on schedule and I see Bama having a slight advantage with a mobile QB. Either way I would almost, but not quite, guarantee Bama has more rushing Yards.

There is a lot of truth in this as the UGA DL is not near as good as Clemson and can be ran on. Watch some film and its quite clear. Not trying to stir any shite btw just my observations.
