My first thought was that it has to be UGA. They have enough talent every year that they can be right there. Now, in the next 5 years, A&M looks poised to get one with their recruiting and coaching. South Carolina is certainly capable.

So my order is 1. UGA 2. SCar 3. A&M

Why?

Maybe it has to do with fact that A&M lost its best lineman, and JFF needs to prove he isn't going to pull a Denard Robinson and get worse each year. (not saying he is, but lets give it a game or two)

Plus, A&M is in the hardest division of all of college football, the SEC West. It is hard to think that any team can go undefeated in the west.

Ole Miss will always be Ole Miss and until Tennessee can hire someone besides Butch Jones and Derek Dooley they will be in the same boat they are in now.

My gut says UGA. They are recruiting lights out and, within the next few years, they will have the talent to win a national title despite Mark Richt.

I don't think anyone is prepared to say A&M can make a run in the very near future.

And considering that the 4 teams excluded from the conversation are all more likely to win than any other, this discussion is best viewed in the long-term.

So the conversation should focus on recruiting, coaching, facilities, etc.--not JFF and A&M's current roster.

With that being said, I don't know why there's a better argument advanced for OM, Mizzou, or USCe.

We've been the best team in the East for the last 3 seasons, get the ball to bounce our way a few times in the next season or 2 and who knows what will happen.

Like I said.. a lot of "South Carolina will nevers" Have been broken pretty recently.

So as of right now, you'd give those teams a better prognosis than A&M?

Why?

Because Manziel can only play a few more years.

I don't think A&M does either. Feel free to call me on that if I'm wrong, but I just don't see long-term success

But what is it about A&M's long-term viability that you don't like?

I am trying my best not to flame UGA because I want on their board so I can talk about falcons without saints fans....
....
BUT...
...

This was sorta their year. And when it came down to the end, Richt sorta lost that one for them. The way they were moving the ball, I don't think Bama could of stopped them, and had they got the TD they would have won an easy NC.

Richt is a good coach, but it does seem at times he is the sole thing holding them back.

So is the assumption then that Sumlin et al. will be unable to recruit at a high level once he leaves?

If so, why is that the assumption?

Yeah, and look what happened. Only one trip to Atlanta and you got your liver extracted when you did go.

Ok so we had some unfortunate scheduling. This year we have a favorable schedule as opposed to UGA and UF. So lets say we pull a UGA. Lose to one team in the East, still make it to ATL, and come within 20 yards of playing for the national title.

Like I said it will only take a handful of more breaks in any single season to push us thru.

Well one thing that concerns me, is the recruiting of wait, 8 or 9 WR's?
I know right now, that fits into yall offense. But you can't bank on having JJF type qbs ever year, and when it comes to the SEC you need a lot of big boys to stay healthy and have back ups.

ETA: again, not to say yall haven't gotten those kinds of guys, idk. It seems though that yall are going spread, which only a Cam Newton and Tebow have won a NC out of the SEC in that kind of system. And the SEC is 5x better now than then

In order:

1. Georgia - They have been a game away a couple of times, always have talent.

2. Texas A&M - could strike while Manziel is there and their talent is only going to get better being in the SEC and Texas.

3. South Carolina - really think it's between Georgia and Texas A&M only because of recruiting advantages but South Carolina has an outside chance at putting together one dream season.

Really these three seem like the only candidates right now.

Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi St, Ole Miss? None of these look remotely possible.
