I thought I remembered reading somewhere that Louisiana has had more talent make it to the NFL than any other state.

Per capita?
Or, overall?
If overall, I can't imagine it NOT being FL

Florida has by far the most talent in terms of total players, but a lot of those guys go to FSU, Miami or other ACC schools also. The way they looked at talent was pretty flawed

That's a great "chart" of the players.
Interesting that LSU fans were crowing about raiding TX when they can't take care of their own backyard.

# LSU -- Louisiana (25), Texas (8), Florida (4). # Ole Miss -- Mississippi (12), Louisiana (10), Florida (5).
Oh, I forgot. Anybody who doesn't sign with LSU; they didn't want anyway.

Agreed. And Louisiana, being a border state to the Big 12, has a few of its players going to the Big 12 schools.

Georgia /thread.
Look at every SEC roster and I guarantee you. There will be at least 3 players from Georgia on it.

Are you insinuating that the LA players on Ole Miss' roster are as talented (on average) as those on the LSU roster?

The main thing to remember about this study is that they are only looking at the 12 SEC schools. I have a hard time believing florida doesn't produce more D1 talent than Georgia. It's just that those players go to FSU, Miami, and elsewhere.

Found this interesting article about LA boys in the pros right now. Pretty cool.
Every year at this time, I survey NFL rosters and am simply amazed by how much top-level football talent we are blessed to produce both in the New Orleans area and statewide.
How much talent do we have? On any given year, high schools from the Greater New Orleans area usually place 34 to 35 players on NFL training camp rosters. For 2009, 37 players dot National Football team rosters.
Coincidentally, the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers have the most players representing the Crescent City with five. The Bears, Colts and Redskins all tied for 2nd with 3 players each.
As far as the state of Louisiana is concerned, Oakland, Buffalo, Bengals, and San Diego all employ 6 players from the Pelican State - the Steelers have 7 from the Louisiana prep ranks.
There are 114 players in NFL training camps that sharpened their skills on Friday evenings in stadiums around the state.
The New Orleans Saints have 4 players from Louisiana , Devery Henderson, Randall Gay, Tracy Porter and Skyler Green. The Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle do not have any players from Louisiana on there training camp roster.
Here is a sampling of what local players are currently in NFL training camps:
- Dawan Landry, Hahnville - Ravens
- Ed Reed, Destrehan - Ravens
- Chris Henry, Belle Chasse - Bengals
- Robert Royal, Edna Karr - Browns
- Jacoby Jones, Abramson - Texans
- Corey Hilliard, Jesuit - Colts
- Peyton Manning, Newman - Colts
- Reggie Wayne, Ehret - Colts
- Tyson Jackson, West St. John - Chiefs
- Dion Gales, J.F. Kennedy - Chiefs
- Chris Brown, Jesuit - Miami
- Benjarvus Green - Ellis, St. Augustine - Patriots
- Darryl Richard, Destrehan - Patriots
- Alan Faneca, Curtis - Jets (Alan was raised in New Orleans until he transferred to Houston just prior to college)
- Jeremy Parquet, Destrehan - Steelers
- Ryan Clark, Shaw - Steelers
- Ike Taylor, Abramson - Steelers
- Keenan Lewis, O.P. Walker - Steelers
- Mike Wallace, O.P. Walker - Steelers
- Buster Davis, O.P. Walker - Chargers
- Mike Scifres, Destrehan - San Diego
- Troy Kropog, Rummel - Titans
- Troy Bergeron, New Orleans - Falcons
- Marlon Favorite, West Jeff - Carolina
- Craig Steltz, Rummel - Bears
- Matt Forte, Slidell - Bears
- Lance Louis, L.B. Landry - Bears
- Quinn Johnson, West St. John - Packers
- Chris Clark, McDonogh 35 - Vikings
- Skyler Green, Higgins - Saints
- Eli Manning, Newman - Giants
- Corey Webster, St. James - Giants
- Cortez Hankton, DeLaSalle - Buccaneers
- Chris Horton, DeLaSalle - Redskins
- LaRon Landry, Hahnville - Redskins
- Roydell Williams, East St. John - Redskins
- James Hall, St. Augustine - Rams
If you are keeping score, Destrehan has the most representation in the NFL with 4 players - Ed Reed, Jeremy Parquet, Mike Scifres and Darryl Richard. Hahnville has two with Dawan and LaRon Landry. Rummel also with a pair - Craig Steltz and Troy Kropog. O.P. Walker has 3 players in the League - Keenan Lewis, Mike Wallace and Buster Davis. Both Jesuit and St. Aug both have a couple of players. A noticeable surprise: for all of the prep success that John Curtis has enjoyed, at this time there is only one former Patriot in NFL camps, although there have been quite a few Curtis players in the NFL previously (11), including Reggie Dupard, Mike Stonebreaker, Jonathan Wells, Melvin Hayes,Clarence LeBlanc and Chris Howard.

Florida no doubt.
Most of this talent comes from schools from Orlando to Miami areas.

is this per capita? and it is definitely post Katrina and Rita (if you understand that)? and doesn't these scales of balance slide or adjust with time and move like the tectonic plates?
