LSU is easily one of the premier programs in the SEC. Top 3 for sure. And I fricking hate LSU.

Depends on what you mean.

Uh, what? Try 45 National Championships. The most in the conference and 5th among Division 1 schools

What? The majority of which are in things nobody gives a shite about.

Anyway, the discussion was about whether or not LSU was prestigious.

But because of admission requirements, and who actually went to the school, they can assume that the average Aggie is smarter than the average Black Bear.

Yeah, but if assumptions were all that mattered, then things like networking and job interviews would be meaningless. They aren't. Ultimately it comes down to you, what you've accomplished, and what your skills are.

Definitely Alabama. No one believes they run a clean program. Their success is the best money can buy.............just saying.

Aptitude does matter though, whatever you want to emphasize on it, I don't know, but the pool of kids A&M gets is more talented than the one Ole Miss gets. I mean you're right, the most successful guy I graduated from high school with was a fire fighter in the airforce, and now is a self-made multi-millionaire from search engine optimization shite. But I'd still feel more comfortable sending my kid to A&M more so than Ole Miss. It doesn't mean I don't think my kid could be wildly successful if he became a Black Bear, I just think some schools are better.

Whole market was up really high. Business cycle yada yada. I am heavily leveraged in to oil and gas, but I think I am gonna invest in some REITs this year. This lazy arse generation needs to move out of mom and dad's at some point.

My school is better than your school which is better than his school over there.

Threads like this are so pointless.

For me it depends on what my (nonexistent) kid wants to study. If he wanted to be an aerospace engineer, then of course I'd nudge him towards A&M (which is laughable because he's getting into Stanford anyway duh). If he wanted to study accounting, English, or pharmacology I'd send him to Ole Miss (again, presuming he isn't at Stanford).

I'm more invested in telecommunications and the aerospace industry, both of which are doing well.

We also have a handful of national titles in smaller sports outside the big 3.

If we are basing the criteria off championships in order to boot someone out of the sec, then it has to be miss state.

They have 0. If anyone remembers the CWS the announcers compared ucla to miss state with total championships.

Ucla had like 100+ championships compared to state's 0

My non-existent kid is gonna study space medicine at MIT. He's a badass.

Your example is sort of unfair though. You're making the assumption he could get in to both A&M and Ole Miss.

I need to diversify, I don't know if I have enough cash for that. Maybe an index fund or two. I need to put in my annual contribution to my Roth IRA, and it's all oil and gas at the moment, which I might just want to double down, but I need to look at other long term growth options as well.

This makes UGA more important to the SEC?

The question was prestigious. Overall UGA and LSU are probably pretty similar as far as what they bring to the conference. UGA's reach is much farther than LSU's, the fan base is bigger, the history is more widely known, etc.

I like LSU fine, but c'mon, it's mostly a regional product, while UGA extends a bit farther.
