Alabama lost twice to similar Clemson teams at neutral sites. One was a blow out.

Between 2016-2019 Alabama went 2-2 against Clemson.

Alabama expected to win every one of those games.

Do you not expect LSU to be competitive with a top 10 team?

You are proving my point that expecting to win all those games wasn’t realistic.

And… again, Bama played all 4 at a neutral site, not At Clemson.

Now do you want to do opening games under Saban? Often against very highly ranked teams. That is what this is much more equivalent to than a playoff game.

I know that Saban was highly successful in opening games. But.. all the high key matchups were at neutral sites.
Alabama never played a team ranked in the top 5 on the road in an opener.

All of these guys are getting paid. That's all in the open now. This is what they all wanted. When I pay my money to watch a game or go to a game or buy an LSU shirt, I expect a return on my investment. Of course, no one can win every game. But, we go into the game evenly matched up and there's no reason that we shouldn't win. If it's a close loss, you tip your hat and move on. Get your arse beat while not looking prepared again, then we are having another conversation.

But, to say that there is no situation that you'd go into a big game expecting a win sounds like one of those participation trophy things.

Ok… since you “Expect” LSU to win at Clemson why don’t you lay down a $10,000 bet that LSU wins.

You and I both know you won’t, and.. you won’t, because you don’t really expect LSU to win that game. You are in the exact same camp I’m in. You believe LSU has a good chance to win. You believe LSU can win. But.. you don’t really expect them to win.

If Brian Kelly loses he will be 0-4 in opening games at LSU.

This is a tough game no doubt. Maybe he should have won one or two of the easier ones? Two of them were against teams ranked outside the top 20.

LSU fans from 2006-2011 would have expected LSU to walk in and stomp a mudhole in Clemson and walk it dry.

You and the Lunitic’s definition of expecting and mine are totally different. When I expect something to happen, like a stock, or real estate, I put major money into it.

I’ve bet on lots of football games “thinking” one team was going to win, my win ratio is like most everyone else’s. 50% at best.

You are confusing "I bet they win" with "considering this is his 4th year and he is getting paid $10M, I expect him to have the team prepared to win." I'm not over here trying to tell you that they will win. I'm telling you that he is a position where I expect him to be winning this game. If he doesn't do it AGAIN, then he may not be the guy.

Then the definition is exactly the same. We are investing a lot of money and our lives to this stuff. When someone is compensated like Brian Kelly is, he should be expected to win. If he doesn't then you do the same with him as you would with a stock that isn't doing well.

If LSU pulls out a win against Clemson they'll pick up #1 votes. (Not the #1 spot, just votes.) They don't matter that much in Sept but still nice to have.

As they should. Texas and LSU both have opportunities to drag their nuts over a top 10 team and establish themselves as one of the favorites right out of the gate.

Will this be LSU 3rd opening loss in a row?

We need to get the Aggies to start a chant.
