I'll agree.

OM fired Cutcliffe when he was doing fairly well for the school. Orgeron fired. Houston Nutt fired.

I'll agree that Cut's firing is generally viewed disfavorably amongst coaches.

Why would you be on our boards? Are you one of the hundred names ending in "dawg" on the top of the Spirit board? Lame...

Uhhh... Where have you been?

Like DCRebel says, perception is reality and the media reports Mullen as a candidate to Miami and Florida last year and PSU this year.

No link, google it yourself.

Convenient to just ignore my point in it's entirety and agree to highlights.

Facilities: Ole Miss (State closing in though)
Location: Ole Miss (Starkville dead last in the SEC)
History: Ole Miss (State is better now)
Girls: Ole Miss (a lot of out-state sorostitutes)

That being said, State will have the better football team for some time to come.

perception is reality
Not in the case of a young coach knowing that he has probably one move and one move only to get it right or end up an assistant the rest of his life. In other words, would you rather go to a school where you will be the 4th head coach over an 8 year period and not even know who your AD is going to be or a head coach at a school where the guy you are replacing was there for 3 years, could stay forever, but left for a school like Penn State (the only reason we are having the discussion)?
You can bet the coach and agent will work through those perceptions and get down to reality. It does not matter to a prospective coach how many times the grove has been written up in the WSJ. The coaching circle is pretty small when you get down to it.

Don't pretend like Starkville was some sort of bastion of racial harmony while the rest of the South was fighting against the Civil Rights Movement. You'd have to be delusional to believe that.

1963 Mississippi State basketball team went against the orders or Racist Governor Ross Barnett who forbit them from playing against teams with black players. Coach Babe McCarthy snuck his team out of the state of Mississippi in order to play in the NCAA tournament.

Cool....so a team really wanted to play in the NCAA tourny.

Now tell me why MSU had an all-white team, again?
