Chollie Mac was LSU to me for the longest time, due to my age. But Saban and Miles have outdone him. 18 years is 18 years though. Times were different back then.

I'd say

1. Vaught
2. Cutcliffe

If we are going by strictly accomplishments. Cutcliffe went to 4 bowl games in 6 years to Brewers 5 in 11 years.

Cutcliffe won 7+ games 5 of his 6 years compared to Brewer winning 7+ in 4 of his 11 years.

Could it be said: Vaught is to Ole Miss as Neyland is to UT? 23 years, 5 CC's, a major NC, 190 wins...great coach.

Nobody is faulting you or your fanbase for that. I am simply pointing out the irony of that statement making it through the editing phase, all the way to the Submit button.

I don't find it ironic at all. If Bryant had never won a single championship, he'd still be better than someone like Gene Stallings

In order:
Cholly Mac- many if not most of the traditions still alive today at LSU were born during his era

Miles- sustained excellence

Tie w/Saban & Dietzel- neither was around long enough but great builders

And reading this I'd probably throw dietzel second behind spurrier at SC. He did some good things there. Times were different back then

Eta: so miles is currently second IMO

I'm in the minority but I say Jackie Sherrill #2 behind RC Slocum #1 in the post WW2 era.

Bear Bryant #3

Gene Stallings sucked for us. Fran and Sherman sucked. Emory Bellard was good.

Pre WW2 Charlie Moran and Dana X Bible were our studs

Oh yeah, that's right. That's a shame. I wonder how much of that had to do with Jim Crow laws and the poor view of the South the rest of the country had.

Obviously you're mad at me for calling you out earlier, and you're trying desperately to catch me on something. You aren't making any sense

Irvin Meyers.
Honorable mention for Galen Hall, he cleaned up Pell's mess and won our first SEC title.
