Just walked North campus and saw Sanford. Got some Braves gear and am eating downtown. Good place to grab a drink maybe?

I'm a little out of the loop now but I'd recommend watching the world cup somewhere. My favorite soccer bar is the Royal Peasant but it's not exactly downtown. Downtown I'd go to Magnolias probably. Usually has the best crowd during the day.

Stuff not on UGA to see...there's the tree that owns itself. Can't think of too much more. Drive down Milledge and look at all the greek houses.

Edit: Terrapin duh. Maybe that's what the LSU guy recommending Sweetwater meant, They should open around 4 or 5. Great local craft beer and there's always a big crowd on days with nice weather.

You mean Terrapin? Sweetwater is in ATL.

Seriously though go check out Terrapin or the new brewery, Creature Comforts.

Rooftop at the GA Theatre or the Manhattan Bar are solid too.

If you're already downtown, go to the Georgia Theater rooftop. Great place to grab a drink depending on the weather. That's where I'd be right now if I were there.

If you're into nature, go to the Botanical Gardens. They're about 5 miles South of downtown on Milledge. Hike the White Trail (my favorite). If you're into animals, go to Bear Hollow Zoo. It's free, and down S Lumpkin (about 2 miles from campus). They have rescue exotics, including bald eagles. there's also the Sandy Creek Nature Center.

If you're into the bars, just pick one.

Restaurants, depends on what you're in the mood for. Mama's Boy is a local favorite, Etienne, The Grill (cheap drunk food,,, get their feta and fries), NONA (New Orleans Style), East West, Trappeze, Last Resort (I think it's dinner only), The Globe, yada yada yada...

If you're into FroYo go to Yoforia. The one downtown is next to Waffle House.

And of course, Terrapin.

Depending on your budget, there are some exquisite restaurants downtown. One magazine voted five and ten as the best restaurant in georgia.

It was either five and ten or last resort actually..can't remember which.
