Well ole sport my daughter just graduated August last. So there must have been a hell of a building, opening campaign since then. We used to go over every other Sunday and eat after church and about once a month @ night to see her and have eaten at every lunch, brunch, dinner place in town from Acre (ok) to Hamiltons to the student dives downtown to every place. Had a decent brunch at the old railroad place but one of my other daughters said her's was just ok.

And like I said I ate fairly often at the country cooking meat and three place down close to the old BBQ place on South College. Once with Pat Dye and we spoke with Tommy T there and he said he eats there 3-5 days a week. Great guy who is gonna win BTW. I love to eat so I'm a little hard to please. Best cornbread in America at the meat and three though. And most college towns suck since they have all those students and parents for customers and don't have to be good. Used to be a hell of a place to eat in Alex City, not to far from there. Would ride over and eat with an old friend when he had a place on the Lake. And outside of a couple of Jim Dandy BBQ joints and couple more meat and three's Columbus ain't much better. Could be worse though. Just took one child who lives in Charleston to dinner and dropped almost 4 bills there with tips for a good bottle of wine and a ok to good mix of dinner items. Then had dinner Sunday night on the way home with my AU child at Canoe on the Hooch in ATL. Won't go back. Beautiful layout and the food was expensively poor in quality. Should have went to the OK Cafe and ate like kings for a little over 6 bits for the three of us. Haven't been to Tuscaloosa in years but it sucked like Auburn before, Montgomery is awful but Birmingham has some of the best dining in the south! Mobile is hit and miss. That damn seafood place is the real deal and a couple places across the bay are good. But the city is again a crap shoot.

What else you wanna know 'bout eating.

jimdog, you obviously didn't get out much or maybe she preferred take out when you came down. But you need to get out more. Auburn is becoming pretty famous for some of its restaurants recently :

I do not think you will find Pat Dye or TT in any of the better restaurants, keep going to Jacks.

You're right about Mr Dye. Used to hunt with he and Callaway out on his place and he would take us for breakfast to a place where they had to rake the floor instead of sweeping it. LOL! Either in Notasulga or that other little town. Damn good bisquits though. He didn't GAS though. I helped him sell a diesel pickup once and you could have planted a crop in the floors of that thing.

Get out! Hell in the last 45-60 days I have been to L.A. area (Camarillo). San Diego. St Pete. Charleston and ATL too many times to mention. We're going back to Camarillo in 2 weeks. I bought my last new truck to drive forever in May 2016 and that thing has 75 K miles plus! So much for that plan.

Have to give the Bow and whatever a try. Acre was and is a disappointment. There are likely a couple of the top twenty things that are good. Mason Jar is the country cooking place and the cornbread is worth the trip. But keep in mind these restaurants pay to get on a list either in a guide or an internet thing or both and that ain't good. Auburn is booming for a little town which is good and bad. Kia place, lots of Columbus folks live there now since Columbus is rough and everybody can't live in Harris County. Traffic on 280 at going home time is tremendous. So yeah the restaurants will get better but the college thing keeps the quality down. Thanks. I'm retared as they say in Notasulga so it ain't like I gotta lot to do except look for a good cafe.

You were the one that said Auburn restaurant scene sucked and only had a BBQ restaurant. When you make a comment like that people are going to call you out on the BS. I have travel all over the country and can tell you that Auburn can more than hold their own for a town it’s size for dining. I have also travel extensively on the West Coast and in the Northeast. The dining in Birmingham doesn’t take a back seat to any of those places.

PS if you ever find yourself on Hwy 1 North of Monterey, Stop at Phil’s Fish Market in Moss Landing. Best Seafood on West Coast.

Damn son you must be carrying on two conversations. I never mentioned any BBQ place in Auburn except as a direction.

You're proud of your town and that's ok! LOL. Don't lose your shite over freaking restaurants. Hell I come in peace. And like I said my standards are high as far as eating and Auburn ain't hitting on much. But hell there ain't a place that I'm aware of except for the Mason Jar decent to eat between Newnan and Mobile on I85 or 65 I think it is. Or the places I've visited are not. That is no skin off you, just the way it is. Damn I live in Columbus freaking Georgia. Good downtown little party district but that's about it. And that wouldn't be there if it were not for Ft Benning. Best place to eat in Alabama is a small town and a college town at that. 3 Sisters just south of Troy. And Troy is likely less than half the size of Auburn. I hope some good places come to Auburn since it is handy. If I don't chuck it all and move to the beach. Hell fire call me out! I was in the Army back in the sixties so my feeling are a little scabbed over! LOL! You are likely a decent guy but I'm pretty much a tell it like it is person and if that's too heavy don't respond and I'll do the same for you.

Actually Hardees! I could eat about 3 of those double cheese thickburgers and finish off with another three of those cinnamon bisquits with icing.

Nah. This one is locally owned. The owners just opened a steak house in Auburn as well. The Cut I believe is the name.

The Mason Jar was recently featured on a GAC restaurant show for their specialty milkshakes.

Well there is a cure for that. LOL! I will say this. You are unpredictable. I suspect the old football BS rears it's ugly head along with some folks. Along. But that passes with most people later in life. So there is hope. Feel free to respond to anything and I'll just stand down from here on. And I was likely the same or worse when I was your age. BTW AU had a hell of a BB run (and probaly got fricked) but the restaurants are likely not a damn bit better.

That's the one in Auburn because I recognize the red checked table tops.
