The last time I ate at Amsterdam it was a joke. The “new” owner should have renamed it so people wouldn’t think the cuisine hadn’t changed.

I just looked at the menu and clearly that isn't the place I remember. I haven't eaten there since 96-97 though.

My fiancée got food poisoning at Amsterdam last time we went after ordering crab cakes... word to the wise.

Sad because it’s a cool place and I wouldn’t go so far as to call it bad, but clearly not up to the standard of Acre or other places like The Hound.

On top of mentioning Live Oaks I’d also say Stinky’s was a cool addition right as I was leaving school. Only ate there once but it was good, just not near downtown.

Acre
The Depot

Amsterdam Cafe
Hamilton’s

Solid list.

Acre (Make a reservation, one of the best in state)

The Hound - Great Steaks, etc.

Lucy's can also be added to this list,

there are now two Hamilton locations (I prefer the one downtown over Moores Mill area).

Auburn University Club (dining room is open to the public).

Stinky's fish camp is also good (Similar to the one on 30A), I personally prefer it over the Depot.

Is this a joke? That place has zero culture & food.
Outside of Nashville & Baton Rouge I can't thing of any good SEC food.

Acre is well recognized, 2018 JAMES BEARD AWARD SEMIFINALISTS, Southern Living Best Restaurant in Alabama, Travel & Leisure: Best Farm-to-table Restaurant in Alabama

What is the best non-chain restaurant in Baton Rouge???

Idiot.

Birmingham has one of only two restaurants in the country outside of NYC, Chicago, LA, San Fran, and New Orleans to win the James Beard Award for Most Outstanding Restaurant in the Country. We have multiple chefs at multiple restaurants that have won various James Beard Awards. Birmingham has gotten a lot of national recognition lately as a great food city and a hot destination for serious foodies

Bowl I agree with you, but there is not an SEC school in Birmingham... Alabama moved their games to Ttown long ago.

Austin has hundreds of food trucks and amazing food from all ethnicities. As far as the bbq goes. Sauce is for mistakes, and austin bbq is world famous. Although we don’t have chow chow so i guess you’ve got us there.

There are a few overrated restaurants in Auburn, but The Hound isn't one of them. It's legitimately my favorite place to eat in the state of Alabama. Great, creative dishes and always a great draft list.

At home. Auburn is a good little town but the only decent restaurant there is a country cooking place on south college.
