Not nationally, but for local intensity, it would be hard to match.

Its a good rivalry in college football but lets not get carried away here. Its not up there with some of the pro sports rivalries or even some college basketball rivalries.

You're overlooking the Marlins/Mets rivalry.

As a Marlins fan I can attest to this great "rivalry"

Right, and I agree. But for those who have never lived in Alabama...well, let's just it's different.

name a single other rivalry in sports that ONLY is around because the two teams play each other in the championship. not because of being next to one another or playing each other every year a bunch of times in the regular season. ill wait. im not the only one who thinks this way at all

Michigan/Ohio State
Oklahoma/tu
USC/Notre Dame

They are all better in college, imo. All have blue bloods on both sides, so they get a notch in prestige.

Over the last decade, and specifically the last 5 years, obviously the Iron Bowl is the best in all of college sports, but in general, I'd place it 4th, but the best in-state rivalry at the moment and all time. You're talking about a state that is passionate about college football arguably more than anywhere else and it would take a lot to unseat that. Florida/Florida State could make a good claim because of the 80s and 90s, and if A&M ever wins a natty or two, and that kickstarts the Lone Star Showdown again... those are the only two I could ever imagine getting close, but I don't think either will ever get there.

Duke/UNC is a better overall sports rivalry as well, imo.

Overall professional sports:

Lakers/Celtics
Bulls/Pistons
Knicks/Pacers
Dodgers/Giants
Cardinals/Cubs
Yankees/Red Sox
Blackhawks/Red Wings
Bruins/Rangers
Canadiens/Maple Leafs
Canadiens/Bruins
Jets/Patriots
Steelers/Ravens
Giants/Eagles
Chiefs/Raiders
Bears/Packers
Packers/Vikings
Cowboys/49ers
Cowboys/Steelers
Cowboys/Eagles
Cowboys/Giants
Cowboys/Redskins

It would help if you guys were closer overall and could keep from being blown out.

Hey, needed to have some joy this weekend. Luck in ATL.
