They don’t have the NIL cash to keep up in this conference. Or it would appear so.

Venables looks more like those guys. It will be interesting to see if he goes back to being a DC for the rest of his career once his stint at OU is over, or if he keeps trying to be a head coach for the money.
No one Is going to hire him again if he fails.

A good QB would also solve a lot of their problems though. If they had kept Gabriel, they would be pretty good this year.
I understand they have deficiencies elsewhere; however, all of the talk from Sooners during the offseason centered around how much better they’d be since Gabriel left to Oregon. lol

Agreed…Gabriel saved their a$$ last year…he’s a damn good QB
I find it odd that OU has been a QB factory for years but they derailed that train intentionally.

For some reason their administration didn't want to engage with donors to try to get a robust NIL collective started and they are behind as a result. Maybe some of the Sooner members can explain what the back story on that is.
The good news is the new revenue sharing incoming may de-emphasizr NIL as a recruiting and retention tool.

NIL isn’t going anywhere imo
unless there is a draft and contracts

I assume DG was gonna follow Jeff Lebby until he found Lebby was going to Miss St so then he was all about getting that bag from Nike.

Much like RC Slocum was, much better defensive coordinator than head coach.

Slocum was light years better than BV on offense and especially on defense.

Wait, I’m sorry. How were they out-recruiting us before?

Dumb comment. You just start watching college football in 2013?
There were other elite conferences before the sec, you know.
