The most ironic thing is after UF beat OSU in the NCG, the Big X was still 2-1 against the SEC that year in bowls...but it didn't seem to matter
I remember watching Gary Danielson compare schedules during the SECCG that year, saying "well look at this, Tenn. is better than Penn State and Auburn is better than Wisky (or something along those lines basically saying every team in the SEC was better that year). Then watching those games on New Years and being like "OSU has got this."
then....the pain

Yeah. I thought that Florida would've been decent enough to use some lube, but they skipped that and the foreplay and got right to the arse fricking

that game changed the perception for SEC fans also.. even the SEC expected tOSU to beat Florida pretty easily..

I still think there's more parity between the major conferences than most SEC fans choose to believe. I believe the SEC is stronger, but not dominant. Before someone points out our losses, I would have felt that way regardless. In '06, I believe there was more difference. Florida had every incentive that year. All the media hyping of the Big 10 that year only worked against tOSU.

When UO failed to score inside the AU 3 twice, it was over IMO.

I agree, looking back its hilarious to think of the way the media was disrespecting UF. Most were still complaining that they shouldn't have been there, it should have been a rematch with UM, even thou UM got trashed by SC

UF v SC would have been the better game, and one that many people wanted to see the entire decade that never happened.

06. UF curb stomping OSU.
This. By SEC standards, that UF team was never really considered all that great. With less luck they could have easily been an 8-4 team. But they beat the shite out of a heavily favored Ohio St team and the talent difference on the field was very obvious, especially on D.

+10000 Not playing each other in 08 kills me. Would have been a hell of a game, thou OU actually did play well.

LSU in 03, Auburn in 04 but the final nail in the coffin was UF curb stomping OSU in 06. At that point everyone woke up that the SEC was ver brutal, it was made even more solid by LSU again in 07.
The perception was the SEC was slipping and that another conference would take over due to the East being so bad but Bama and MSU stomping the Mich teams plus Auburn winning again solidified it again.

AU in '04 would have gotten the breaks beaten off of them by SC IMO.

OU did play well, and many people didn't think UF would win that game either. We were playing against the mighty Sam Bradford that year.

I had a chance to talk to Derek Harvey about that game and he said that the UF defense could hear Troy Smith yelling at his linemen in the huddle. Said it was like , "WTF guys gimme some damn time." "shite Troy they're too damn fast man we can't get to em." shite like that all game.

Don't know if I would go that far. USC most likely would have won but it would have been a much better matchup than USC-Choklahoma. Gah what a blowout that was, Leinart looked like the 2nd coming of Steve Young.

Greatest offense ever. In truth thou your DB's really punked their receivers. I thought that's where the game was won. That Ahmad Black INT is classic, he just took the ball away from Iglesias.

This shot that Major Wright put on a Sooner WR at the beginning of the game was epic.

Oh you mean the pass interference call that the refs decided not to call on that first OU pass right?
