I believe it was the worst case scenario for us. If O struggles it will next to impossible to get rid of him without a media shitstorm. It will turn into a PR nightmare. And I totally expect it to go that route. IMO he will have his best years the next two years and will trend down after that. We managed to hire the least qualified coach in the SEC who will be totally reliant on hiring home run assistants . He has no strength other than motivation. I firmly believe it will be a clusterfrick in the highest degree

I think he loves LSU so much that if he isn't doing well he would step down on his own.

If they ever get the right coach there they can play and beat anyone. They have the talent to win championships.

With regards to Alabama, LSU fans just need to be patient. They've built a dynasty that we haven't seen since the Bear and just like back then, it will one day end. I'm not saying that to upset Bama fans or incite an argument, but ALL good things-even great dynasties-end. I thought LSU baseball would keep dominating the 2000's the way they did the 90's but Skip retired and 16 years later they've got only 1 more trophy.

Saban is tGOAT, there's no question about it, but he can't coach forever, and there's NO WAY someone just steps in and fills those shoes without a few bumps. LSU just needs to stay competitive, keep winning 9 or 10 games a year, always at least stay in the conversation, and keep taking Bama to the 4th quarter. Before long I think you'll see the Tigers steal one or 2 of those games.

Until then, live it up, Bammers. What a special time it is for y'all.

All of this. Good post. We will get them again at one point. Been so close it can be frustraiting, but have to tip the cap to them. Saban is a fricking beast.

So, what if they had two months. Name somebody outside of Herman and Fisher LSU would realistically want and could have? And don't say Fedora or MacIntyre or Gundy are all better options. They aren't even close.

So in your opinion O is the best candidate that LSU could have hoped to hire? Do you know how fricking stupid you sound? And by the way, those three coaches all run circles around O or are you too fricking stupid to realize 3 wins in there years in the sec is miserable.

Let's see how he fricks up this program when he is actually the HC and not an interim coach.

Go suck your boyfriends cock and let someone else tell you how to think because you and the rest of the morons that bought into O obviously can't think for themselves.

It's good for bama to see Lsu do well and compete with them at a high level imo.. Adds so much excitement and when Lsu and auburn are strong it raises the sec up a notch nationally. I did not enjoy seeing the sec so down this year. I think O can get it done. Only ? Is can he make the right hires. Looking at dabo and many mention both situations because they are similar paths from position coach to interim to HC. Both can motivate and recruit. Where dabo has truly succeeded was recruiting and hiring the right coaches. Can O make the right hire. Alleva is giving him all the $ to do it so he's gotta to make the right OC hire and ST's hire and LBer coach hire to accomplish what dabo has. I'm pulling for him

We had a program that pushed us to be better and now, well, it appears as though they have followed the rest of the SEC and thrown in the towel until Saban is gone.

They will be just fine. They didn't have much time to practice and learn new plays this year. They will be good next year with a full year to practice with the new coaching staff.

This is the attitude that you should run from. To beat Alabama and take their crown LSU will have to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year with the best coaching staff in America - and be better at it than Alabama. Coach O isn't capable of that - by a loooooooooooooog shot.

but LSU is one good head coach away from going on a similar streak Bama has the last 8 years.

So we are 1 hire away from having the best run in cfb history? You do realize that Bama's run has never happened before in modern cfb, right?

Bama is a dozen or so plays away from playing in the playoffs/bcs title every year since 2008.

This is the most unqualified hire in big 6 history. No big 6 program has ever elevated a position coach to hc. We just hired a coach that HAS NEVER RAN A SUCCESSFUL OFFENSE, DEFENSE OR PROGRAM. Ed Orgeron wouldnt get interviewed for hc at vandy or kentucky.

I was pretty angry when they announced the hiring, but after cooling down, I've accepted it. We have to.

I'm sure it's been said already, but it can't be overstated. Orgeron is one of the best recruiters around, and that alone will enable LSU to keep winning around eight to nine games per year. The players love him, and they play their butts off for him.

Can he hire a competent staff? That is yet to be seen. Can he develop the athletes he recruits? We'll see. Is he half-competent in terms of X's and O's. We'll see. Those are the things that will put us over the top.
