Derek Mason is, of course, Vandy's HC.

A Florida Mod's confirmed that something's going on and that possible suspensions involving a Gator DB or another player (possibly Huggins) and Mason's daughter (is this really true??), who plays lacrosse at UF...something involving a sexual assault...any Gators out there know anything more? Texts suggest another Title IX investigation.

The UF Rivals board is talking about it along with another one. Any basis to all this?

Bad on Florida if true, but Mason is a two sided bitch, so not surprised. Hes the guy that can dish it, but not take it, so interested to see how this plays out against 2 universities in the same division and conference.

I guess I’m not following exactly, would Mason’s daughter be one of the assaulters or the assaultee and why would it be title ix if sexual assault- wouldn’t that be real legal charges?

All unsubstantiated rumor at this point. Supposedly 2 other players failed a drug test as well. So possible 1 game suspension for failed drug tests and who knows on title IX case. Mullen’s answer at SEC media days about Huggins availability regarding title IX case was he was preparing for the season. Scuttlebutt is Mullen and UF are waiting until after SEC media days to announce anything about suspensions and title IX case so it doesn’t dominate the conversation about UF in front of 1200 press members. Florida freedom of information act emails and texts about when Mullen knew and what UF knew will be very interesting in middle of September.

Sexual harassment and sexual assault are both forms of sexual discrimination covered under Title IX, which prompt a university investigation.

If criminal charges are pending, LEOs will conduct a concurrent but seperate investigation. The title ix case pertains to school adjudication of the claim. The criminal investigation would be seperate

Wtf is it with Mullen and the crap with the team? This kinda stuff didn’t happen at MSU, did it? I don’t remember this kind of shite at MSU...

It happened at MSU but no one other than rebel rags really paid attention. Ask the Ole Miss fans that are on here. Dude is a straight up Urban disciple without the hardware.

Go look at the Jeffrey Simmons case and the LB that testified to the NCAA.

Not until it's confirmed. But, if it is it would be the third Title IX investigation at Florida (the others were in 2014 & 2017).

It’s already listed in the swamp burns thread but listed as unsubstantiated rumor and no names of supposed players are on the front page.

Ok, makes sense

Pretty much all I know about title ix is that people complain it keeps some men’s sports down- it evidently covers quite a wide swath of things.

Wow...the Gators program keeps on getting slammed. I hate the Gators, but I won't kick'em on this. We'll wait and do that on November 2, 2019, in Jacksonville. We want them to be at full strength when they meet up with the Dawgs.

Mason is a - I got a racist letter in the mail - sumlin 2.0

I hate Mullen, but let's get more substance. We live in a racist, sexist, me too environment, so sorry if I call it off of my personal bias in 2019.

Like what another poster said, why is it title 9 and no cops?

Feel free to kick em while their down, I am, and will continue to do so as long as Mullen runs his mouth at UF. Their head coach broke the cardinal rule and talked all kinds of smack this offseason. This is just Karma biting his arse.

The only drawback is right now it’s twitter and message board innuendo. No one knows for sure but the rumors have been acknowledged in multiple places by respectable sources. Right now it’s just more smoke coming out of Gainesville. Based on how Mullen has performed this offseason there is probably going to be another fire for him to put out and multiple players will be impacted.

She has had some issues with depression and wrote an article about it for ESPN.

bigDgator….read the article. What a beautiful girl she is. Quite sad to read of her struggles, etc. I have great respect for Mason; he's done an incredible job at Vandy. I hope it all works out well for her and, hopefully, this particular situation will be resolved or, better yet, prove not to be true.

I read that earlier today. No doubt she has struggled in her life and recently and with the supposed incident.
