I was gonna say it would be less competitive to recruit to Texas but he's just basically drafting kids for Alabama now anyway, would be a dumb move.

Yep. Don't even mention recruiting in Texas. Bama gets 25 guys across the country better than Texas recruits.

He could improve his personal well being far beyond what Alabama could offer, while winning NC's. If Texas wanted to, they could let Saban name the price, Bama could not.
Also, Austin is much much much nicer than anywhere in Alabama

It happens every year. It used to be worse than it is now, but it's still constant.
Saban got the reputation as a job hopper, but what people fail to realize, is that he only hopped until he reached the top. And, by the top, I'm talking about LSU, a top tier college program. Then he decided he wanted to try the NFL. He quickly found out he didn't like it, and when Bama offered, he came back to college, at another top tier program. He's not going anywhere.

The dude's making almost $6 million a year. He's the highest paid coach in college football and has Alabama running at a level of efficiency that most GMs in the NFL would be envious of. Why give up all that just to start over again in Austin? So he can say he's the only coach to win national championships at THREE different schools? I don't think he cares so much about that sort of feat.

What possible factor other than the City of Austin would even tempt Saban to change. It's not like Tuscaloosa is a complete shite hole like Baton Rouge...(I keeed I keeed).
The only advantage is MAYBE money and city, and those are grossly outweighed by the shitty conference with no challenge whatsoever in terms of competition, the seemingly deliberate diversion of exposure, and a luke warm fan base made up of fair-weather sidewalk fans fans with pro teams to follow when things get shitty.

Saban is going to Texas at some point. First, bama doesn't want to get into a money war with Texas....they'll lose. Second, the ego of Saban winning another NC at yet another school will be a big factor in his decision. Third, the SEC haters will do whatever they can to move Saban to another conference.
The question is, who will bama get to replace him.

It might as well be this considering we're talking about fairy tales.

Could Texas outbid Bama, sure they can. But for them to outbid Bama, they'd have to offer way more than $10 mil a year. Would Texas actually try and offer him $20+ mil a year? I doubt it.
And as far as the "Austin is a better city" argument goes, Saban is 61 years old. I'm guessing he isn't looking to go bar hopping on a Saturday night.

Enough with the Texas obsession!

They definitely wouldn't offer that much. The political outcry over that would be crazy.

And honestly being Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa, where you are idolized and worshiped >>> being Nick Saban in Austin, where at least 50% of the residents DGAF about you.

Bama pulled in $82 mil in football revenue alone in 2012. How much do you think Texas is willing to pay a coach? Because you're looking at the $20 to $30 mil a year range. It sure will have to be a lot more than the $10 mil that people keep throwing out there.

Austin and the hill country vs. Tuscaloosa and the hill country? If you've been to both you'll know there's no comparison.
Geographical areas aside, the LSU folks should be worrying also. He'll recruit the heck out of Louisiana....more than he does now.
If I were Saban, Texas would be very very very attractive to me.
