Correct. Crean didn't just forget how to coach.

Every member of the 2020 team left. Because Crean is a dick with ears. He might be able to coach but no one who is around him for very long wants to play for him

It is simultaneously a good hire and laughable cause you did us a real solid. I like the guy and think he’s a better fit there. You never wanna be the guy who follows ~The Guy~. He can’t hold Billy D’s jockstraps but he’s a huge upgrade over Crean

We are laughing way harder at $9.5 million for Brian Kelly.

It was a good hire for Georgia.

And it was a great hire for Florida.

Coming off a national championship in football and your athletic dept having money falling out of their pockets it seems underwhelming but he is solid and uga basketball needs that.

You nailed it.
I admit I'm underwhelmed. I was looking for a "home run" hire. Mike White is a solid coach, however, and he may be the coach Georgia needs at this particular time. UGA's announcement referred more than once to White's integrity. It must have been an extremely important element.
That said...I'm going to have to warm up to having him as coach. I'm in big time "we'll see" mode.

Finally, a reasonable sounding Tennessee fan (sorry but Serraneaux and Crunchusmaximus or whatever his name is have been horrible today! lol)

Congrats on your tourney win today baw

I don't recall a thoughtful, useful take from either of them on any topic. Ever.

I'm not trying to tell you it's a great hire or earth shaker.

You mean head scratcher? Look what Arkansas did in football. If hiring a HC with no experience at the Power of 5 then Georgia should have done the same thing. Mike White will be a repeat of what happened to him coaching Florida.

Not remotely the same comparison. Stoops has risen Kentucky to the top 5 of the SEC. White didn't move the needle at Florida or even maintain what Donovan had built.

Now, with that said, not sure Georgia could have done better and I think he will do well there with the expectations.

The guy even our bad coaches with bad teams vs their best teams beat? I'd be mortified and y'all would definitely laugh. Bad example. Very bad example. And FWIW, I think White is a decent hire for UGA.

He'll have UGA on the bubble or in the NIT every year, which I think Georgia is okay with for right now.

I'm stunned by the number of people on this board who can tell the future. Why aren't you a billionaire? I mean, you speak with such confidence.

I don't think he's a great hire and I certainly don't think he's a great coach but... Georgia needs a coach to stop the bleeding more than anything else right now.

Mike Anderson didn't set the world on fire at Arkansas but he did manage to stabilize the program. We probably never would have landed Muss if Mike hadn't pulled us out of the freefall we were in. We will see how White does at Georgia, but if he can at least pour some water on the dumpster fire he's a good hire.

Well he needed to hit the reset button. He was on the Hot seat and he knew it. Most Florida fans wanted him gone and if he had another repeat season like this last then he would have most likely been fired. So him moving on to UGA he’s allowed to hit the reset button and extend his time coaching in a Power 5 conference. Smart move on his part anyways.

UGA would gladly take his record at UF.

Because it doesn’t make sense. Yea I know how bad UGA is. But going to the NIT every few years isn’t going to move the needle anywhere. I’d rather keep on hiring and firing and get an actual chance at being actually good

Eta the only person it makes sense for is the AD who wants to keep his job with an admin who doesn’t care about basketball. Mediocre is ok

Let's put it this way....Mullen was a fine hire for Mississippi State.

His best seasons without Billy D's recruits are still far better than Georgia has seen in decades.
