I would just like to point out to everyone that an Ole Miss fan did not post this and no Ole Miss fan has claimed this,
...so when it doesn't happen, don't come on here and say that "All the Ole Miss fans thought he was going to sign at halftime. "

I put that in a thread on the coaching changes board as sarcasm. Lane isn't going anywhere. He's playing his game right to get as much money out of OM as he possibly can. He knows he's as hot of a commodity right now as he'll ever be and is playing things correctly. Learn to recognize sarcasm

If you were looking to get the most money (Jimmy Sexton) would you not wait as long as possible until teams are desperate for the most money?
but most importantly...
If you were planning on staying and your competition wanted to hire you, would you not wait as long as possible to tell them to kick rocks?
There are more scenarios, but these are the most likely.
I wouldn't expect any actual info until at least the last week of conference play. Maybe not until after the SEC champ game or OM losses in the playoffs.

So Lane won't in be in the locker room coaching up the team at halftime, he'll be on the field for a publicity stunt, I don't buy it
You have to admit this is the funniest scenario.
He leads Ole Miss to a 28-3 halftime lead, spends halftime ripping his shirt off revealing a Colonel Reb chest tattoo, signs the extension, does a lap around the stadium and then they lose 35-31 to Billy Gonzales because they did no halftime prep.
