The USC thing is odd, because we've always called ourselves that, and Southern Cal has really only been sticking to USC in the past 20+ years. Anyone I've ever met from California who is a USCw fan has always called themselves SC. Even their logos are all SC. It's dumb.
The Carolina thing is silly, too, but those frickers can go to class, on the way to hell.

The whole sidewalk fan thing is the most pretentious, snot-nosed, “I have zero self-esteem so I have to invent some ridiculous standard for fandom and belittle others to make myself not feel like the douchebag that I am” crap in the sports world. And it’s practiced on this board consistently.
Forget that many of those fans send their kids to those schools or work for the schools or for companies who do business with the schools. Set aside the fact that they may have had their lives saved at the university hospital or are from the state where the institution happens to be located. Certainly ignore the fact that they buy tickets and apparel by the bucket (money which supports the athletics department these hosers are trying to reserve for alumni only).
And most importantly, how about you condescending pricks RETURN THE TAX DOLLARS the sidewalk fans pay that support “the precious”.
I mean in the entire universe of douchebaggery, looking down your nose at sidewalk fans (an embarrassingly dumb term to begin with) takes the undeserved elitist cake.
