How many SEC teams have played in the Rose Bowl the last 50 years?

There is a reason it didn't/doesn't happen.

You lost the NC Game and finished #2. Guess what? Richt was also able to finish #2.

Recruiting is subjective. You realize it is possible for a team that finished #2 or #3 or #4 etc to actually have a better class when all is said and done and the players actually play in games? All you need to compete is top 10 classes and Richt gave you that.

Georgia fans are having to manufacture things to make Kirby look better. As of right now he is no different than Richt.

Doesn't change the fact that Richt never got destroyed like 40-17. And how soon we forget the 2016 season. Vandy remembers...

We had injuries. We were tired. Is this the way to explain away bad losses?

Roster management would be the biggest difference, Richt once allowed us to get under 70 scholarships.

Kirby is always looking at ways to fill roster issues and is a master at it.

That legacy is with all those not named Dooley.

Dooley lost several big games. It seems to be a Georgia thing.

I will probably get a brick in the head from a few Alabama fans, but...

another difference is that Richt is a much better person

Doesn't matter. You made a statement and the statement was wrong.

quote:

But he never played for the national Championship.

Yes, I am very aware of this. but he still finished with the #1 class which Richt never did.

We are not manufacturing things, you are. You said Smart had not done anything Richt had not done. We named off several things that Smart has done that Richt never did and all you are saying is, "Nu uh."

Answer thse simple questions:
1. Did Richt ever coach UGA in the Rose Bowl?
2. Did Richt ever coach UGA in the National Championship game?
3. Did Richt ever finish with the #1 recruiting class?

If he did not, then Smart has done some things that Richt never did.

You can't make statements then start moving goal posts because we prove you wrong. You made the statement, not us.

Are you insinuating that Saban has not lost some big games?

They both had two opportunities to make the playoffs. Kirby made it, Richt couldn't.

While true, a bit disingenuous. 2012 UGA was as qualified as it gets. It would have deserved a playoff spot had the playoff existed.

They are strategic losses

Plus - a big-bag-o-money helps make them "strategic"

Might not have been qualified enough for top 4.

Richt wouldn't have lost that game on Monday.

Richt lost 3 in a row to Bama, 2 in blowouts.

Not near as many as "Mr. 8-3 Vince Dooley"

Honestly, I don't recall who all was vying except UGA, Bama, and Notre Dame. Maybe I should rephrase and say this year, UGA would have been a CFP lock under the same circumstances.

Kirby just lost to Alabama. Does it matter by how much? A loss is a loss is it not? To make matters worse Kirby just had his Defense abused by a True Freshman in only 2 quarters of football.

Again, Kirby has yet to do anything Richt didn't do. Richt managed to beat Saban at LSU and Alabama. That sounds as silly as the "Richt never won a Rose Bowl" statement

I mean, it's silly to say any coach loses big games. They all do. Alabama lost to Clemson last year, for instance. Ohio State in whatever year it was. Thing is, you think of Saban differently because he wins so many big games.

You can say that as many times as you want but it still isn't true.

Not by a long shot! I mean, they both go down under "L", but trust me, I was scared half out of my wits we would be blown out Monday night. To go to OT and have a great game gave me a little solace. Alabama rarely gets blown out of late. One day it will happen again, and you will understand what I am talking about.
