What's the difference between 9-5 Virginia and 8-5 A&M?

Seriously? A&M could have won the Coastal and gone 11-1 (10-2 at worst) with Virginia's schedule.

A&M is content with 4th or 5th place in the West. They're willing to pay someone 10 million a year to do it too.

The amount the schools paid for wins.

UVA paid 3.5M for 9 wins

A&M paid 7.5M for 8 wins
