I’ve seen a lot of folks arguing and presenting evidence against Bama getting in the playoff, but I’ve yet to see anyone make a valid case showing why SMU deserves to be in the playoff.

Anyone?

Well for starters…they have no losses to 6 loss teams and they scored an offensive TD in all their games.

They didn’t get blown out by a 6-6 team.

They played a power 4 conference schedule, beating two ranked teams along the way, finished in the top 8 at the end of the regular season and lost in walk off fashion in a conference championship while Alabama sat home. SMU finished with one fewer loss than Alabama while playing an extra game.

This isn’t hard, gump. Quit being obtuse.

Won 11 games and didn't booty blasted by a 5-6 OU. Good enough for me

They also would beat Bama head to head on a neutral field.

Easy answer.
11-2 record.
Lost a three point game in their CC game on the last play of the game.
In other words they WON football games.

Bama like Ole Miss lost three games.

SCAR should be ahead of those two based on how the second half of the season played out. But alas, even they are out too with three losses.

True. What about SMU’S quality wins? Can you speak about those? Will only losses matter to the committee?

SMU and Oregon were the only P4 teams in the nation to go undefeated in conference in the regular season.

SMU’s early season loss to ranked BYU was prior to having their current starting QB.

SMU had wins over at the time #22 Louisville and #18 Pitt as well as wins over 9-3 Duke and 7-5 Boston College.
SMU also owns a P4 OOC win over TCU.

So they get punished for being in a shitty conference?

Good argument. I still say Bama quality wins look better than SMU and outweigh the losses.

Nice thought provoking effort though.

That’s the correct and only answer for most. It’s just about hating Bama

Should Bama be punished for being in a good conference?
