Unquestionable all time #1. National Champion implications and a black & white situation.

Ironically CU never scored IMO, even with the 5th down it appeared the runner was short of the goal line when he was downed.

If I remember correctly, that whole officiating crew was suspended indefinitely.

Preston gothard no catch against Penn state in 83. This call , along with the same ref calling the Penn state Nebraska game the year before, changed the criteria for what officials call what games in college football.

The entire LSU at AU game in 2006 was the worst officiated game I’ve ever seen in favor of one team

They made up for that last year in the Auburn LSU game. The refs gift wrapped the game for LSU with calls in their favor. Must have had their eyes closed when Greedy PI Williams played defensw.

Just to review for JLaw, it should have been 1st and goal at the 1 yard line.

Not just a bad call, but during Mullen's first season the refs tried to give Houston a fifth down when they played us in Starkville. The refs also blew a call on our qb that lost us the game. Mullen was so confused he forgot to challenge it.

4th and 25, the moment the ball hit the ground should have been ruled a fumble and once Collins had possession the ball should have been blown dead and game over.

Close second the illegal touching by Shay Hodge against AL in 2007,.

Gus’ play-calling in the second half gift wrapped the game for LSU for the second year in row.

Fixed it.

Well I think the Gaffney catch was 1st or 2nd down, so even if you say it wasn’t a catch, we probably would have scored anyway.

Just check out the Dallas Baker no offsetting penalties call in 2004, and you will see a game changing call. Not only that, but the officials should have started the clock after the penalty and did not, which the SEC head of officials said was a mistake.

It cost UGA 10 yards. There still would have been a rekick.

Without a penalty? If I recall correctly, the punt was blocked and UGA took possession.

Are you referring to the PI at the end? Cuz technically it wasn’t PI. Ball wasn’t catchable.

Let’s be real. Peterson pick was real tho.

And Delpit hit wasn’t cheap. When a Bama we was going down apparently Delpit was just supposed to let him catch it.

The Colorado 5th down play was the worst call in CFB history given the later implications of a Buffs national title.

For Bama, the '83 no catch call vs PSU is a popular choice, as is the more current illegal pick play by CU in the CFP NC game. But, as with everything, one play doesn't define a game and sometimes things just happen.

In '83, had Bama not dug a 34-7 hole for themselves to start the 4th, it may not have come to it. The ref thought he saw a bobble. All other tin foil hat controversy on the certain crew members alma maters, family members and butt hurt over the 79 NC loss and 81- 82 arse kickings the Tide provided aside... it is what it is. No replay no changing it. Bama still got another shot after that play due to a "bad" offsides call on PSU, which should have been a procedure call on UA that induced the offsides.

For the pick play, inconsistent offense all night by UA and the failure to stop a late long drive with everything on the line was as much an issue as the final play call (or no call) itself.

For me, the Reid INT call on the goal line in Game of the Century Pt 1 was a bad call with game changing implications... but, missed FGs were as much or more of an issue than a single call.

Too much emphasis is usually placed on bad calls. And, fans always focus on their own bad calls and gloss over the many that generally go their way over the course of a game and typically balance things out. But, then again. Bama always benefits from the bad call at critical times, so I guess I'm removed enough to be objective.

If there was replay back then that call gets overturned 100 out of 100 times....Of course a former Vandy player made that TD call.

That was 2nd down and Florida fans said they would have scored anyway....but you can't find one that would have bet their house or next paycheck on it.

He was also banned from officiating UT games at Neyland after that call.

Nor could you find any vol fans who would bet either of those against UF scoring a touchdown. So touché.

Never heard a UT fan say FL would or would not have scored a TD....But there has been several FL fans say they would have. One has in this thread.
