What Was Ole Miss' OC Thinking?

I don't udnerstand the Ole Miss offense's ganeplan at all. You have arguably the best QB in the country, and, especially in the 1st half, kept handing the ball off to Lacy's backups and getting zero traction on the ground. And when they finally let Trinidad be Trinidad, he was carving up UF's suspect secondary.
Down 7 early, OM first offensive drive is 3 straight runs up the middle and a fumble.
Why not put the game in the hands of our experienced, mobile QB instead of backup runningbacks?!
I think the 1st three OM drives had a run to pass ratio of 2:1. You know its going to be a high scoring affair, and you wait til you are down big to let Trinidad throw, and when he does he gets it back to within 3 before you go back to the run to stall out a few more drives.
Makes ZERO sense, OM what am I missing or is this really an OC issue?

I was starting to think he was injured and it was affecting his mobility. They never really turned him loose.

Great question and no idea. Looked like Chambliss was ding’d up a good bit as well so maybe giving him breathers?

They won't admit it, but he hurt his ribs against LSU.

Thats only thing that makes sense, because our D is way more suspect against the pass, and I believe with a bettwr gameplan, we'd be talking today about Ole Miss surviving a scare at The Swamp rather than Florida victory

Ole Miss fan here and you are asking the same questions we are. It was strange for sure. Gotta let everything go through chambliss especially with Lacey out

No disrespect from me because yall smoked us but I tend to agree with your assessment. The offense put the defense in bad spots the whole first half. I think this was an outlier game for ole Miss and not true of what we will see the rest of season. Congrats on big win

That is the norm for Kiffin’s HUNH offense. OM seems to be sticking with that framework for now anyway.
It is designed “body blow” a defense but you have to stay ahead of the chains to be effective.

I didn’t either but I also think Ole Miss is much better than they played yesterday.

With Lacy out, you ABSOLUTELY need to protect Chambliss, or the season goes down the toilet.
